Dinner Rolls a la Kim

These are fabulous little rolls you can make the dough for in your bread maker. I’ve not made them in quite awhile. They are really good and easy to make. Light and fluffy, very good warm with dinner.

Dinner Rolls:

1 2/3 cups water
2 tablespoons powdered or real milk (real always better)
2 tablespoons shortening
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
2 tsp salt
4 1/3 cups of white flour
1 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast

Glaze:

1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon water

Put ingredients in pan in order. Place in bread machine. Select the dough setting and start.

Once the machine is done (mine takes about 2 hours) take the dough out and put it in a bowl to let rise. This should take about 30 minutes. You want it to double in size. You can also break them into balls and let rise on baking sheets if you want.  It should yield about 12 – 18 pieces. Once they have risen you brush them lightly with the glaze. Stick them in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 – 25 minutes.

These are really delish served warm with butter. Personally I like real butter on them. I don’t eat bread often so when I do it’s nice to really do it right. Hope you enjoy! xx

I love rolls! My mouth is watering just looking at them. I really need to look into a bread machine one of these days

Do you have a stand mixer or food processor Amy? I bet if you did this is one of these and used regular yeast and increase the rise time it would work. I'll find a normal non bread machine recipe for rolls for you. I'll test it out and let you know.

I have 2 machines simply because I wanted a new stainless one, then after getting it Kiana told me she likes the bread from my old one. Lol. So I do different things in each. But I hate seeing that old white thing on my counter. If you ever get the opportunity a bread machine rocks. My wish list is a new food processor (burnt my motor from overuse) and an ice cream maker.

I have a tiny little food processor :( I'm waiting to buy a nice Kitchen Aid one when we have a house of our own.
I think my mom has a bread machine she never uses…I might snag it from her. I love bread, and would love to make some instead of buying it all the time

I'm waiting to get a cuisinart food processor. They had them on sale a couple weeks ago but no play money right now. Hopefully it comes on again when I can swing getting one. Miss having my food processor.

For sure snag your mom's. Then you can test out whether it's something you'll use or not. I have friends who have them and never use them. Yet I have 2 and they get used alot.

My next purchase is going to be a baguette pan. I'll have to hit the chef store.I've never been in and am scared to death I'm going to lose my mind.I'll end up crying in a corner over all the things I want and can't afford. They'll have to call security, I'll be on the news. This is why I avoid shopping at all costs right now. Fear of being on tv when I have my breakdown.
