So, anyways, I do tend to go on and lose my train of thought eh! Okay so here it is. Don’t judge me too harshly. I was ill. And cranky. And a bit wonky to boot. Anyways….
Simple Spaghetti Sauce:
2 X 28 fl oz/796 ml cans of whole peeled tomatoes (you could use fresh tomatoes if you like)
2 to 3 tablespoon tomato paste
1 cup beef broth
1 1/2 pounds of ground beef
4 bay leaves (ya, I like bay leaves!)
2 tablespoons oregano
2 tablespoons basil
1 tablespoon garlic powder or salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon himalyan salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons sugar
Fresh garlic (I had paste from roasted garlic so I used that, you could use about 3 cloves, pressed)
Brown your ground beef.
Add beef broth, tomatoes, spices, sugar, garlic and shallot and bring to a good boil, stirring for about 4 or 5 minutes.
Reduce to a simmer and cover. Cook for an hour.
Add paste and stir.
Bring to a boil again for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Reduce, cover and simmer for another hour.
Taste and tweak anything you need to. Serve.
Simple other than the long simmer time. So worth it though. Love pasta. Could eat it every day. Not that I do or anything. I mean I do not get up in the middle of the night and make it if you were thinking that. Or at least you can’t prove it.
