Butter Pecan Ice Cream for Ice Cream Sunday

Butter Pecan Ice Cream by Cravings of a Lunatic

Hi folks. I know this looks really good, I know you are in awe of my awesomeness, I know you are probably wondering how we can eat ice cream when it’s so freaking cold outside. It is a hard concept. All I can tell you is it’s warm and toasty in the house. So that’s the loophole. See you now know the secret of the universe. I probably should have kept that to myself. Er, forget I said anything. There’s no loophole. Hey what’s that behind you??? *tries to edit quickly*

We went out to the barn today to see horsey. I was so pleased when the farrier turned up. Not because he’s a total cutie patootie (cuz he totally is) but because he brought his girlfriend with him. His lovely girlfriend is an old friend of mine and mini-me’s from the days when we first boarded our horse. Mr Cutie Patootie walked in and when I stopped staring looked around there was his darling girlfriend. I adore this girl and have such fond memories of her from years past. She is older than mini-me but she was one of the only ones who didn’t care about stuff like that and took mini-me under her wing and made her feel welcome. Mini-me is very shy. Back then she was uber shy. This young gal made sure to always talk to her and I remember finding them sitting under a tree outside talking one day. I am ever grateful to Anna-Marie for always being kind to my daughter. I had not seen her in years. We keep in touch via facebook but that’s not the same. So today was a wonderful day where I got to catch up with an old friend. Love days like that. Doesn’t hurt to have some eye candy wandering around in the background either let me tell you. So now that I’ve fully embarrassed myself and can never show my face at the barn again here’s some other eye candy for you.

Butter Pecan Ice Cream by Cravings of a Lunatic

Moral of today’s story:

Eat a lot of ice cream even when it’s cold, unless you are a farrier cuz you are going to bend over a lot in front of lots of silly women and we want you looking fine and svelte for us. Yes it’s a double standard. I’m okay with that.

    Grubarazzi says:

You make some mean home made ice cream. I love butter pecan. So glad you got to catch up with an old friend today. You are so right, facebook just isn't the same! :)

  3. 3
    Curry and Comfort says:

Ah ha! We know about your ice cream loophole now! :) So you got to "gwak" at some hot stuff and eat some cold stuff… I see that as a win-win. I'm glad your daughter and you found an old friend. She seems like a nice person. :) Lovely ice cream!! It's one of my favorite flavors. PS.. congrats on TOP 9 today (twice)! Way to go!!

  4. 4

I think I actually snorted out loud reading this. Really, Kim, I need to read your posts when I am all alone.

That ice cream sounds so good…well, maybe not while we are experiencing another cold snap with stupid "emergency" heat, but in a few days when it's 75 again.

  5. 5

My husband would love it if I made this for him. Thanks for sharing.

    unorthodoxepicure says:

One thing I've never been called: eye candy. It could be that I'm the guy who eats plenty of ice cream, regardless of the weather. Yours looks outstanding, by the way! The ice cream, that is.

  7. 7
    Mellissa @ IbreatheI'mhungry says:

ha ha! Too funny! How come no shots of "Mr Cutie Patootie" to share with the rest of us!? No fair! Poor guy, probably totally mortified! Hooray for eye candy! And Ice cream! Especially Butter Pecan which is my fave! Going to try and make a sugar free version of this for my low carb thing going on! I love that you have lots of nuts in there, just how I like it! You rock Kim Bee! I totally heart you!

  8. 8

The moral of your story is the best…LOL…but the ice cream is a close second! Yum, yum!

    PS…Anna-Marie is a gem!

  9. 9
    Jackie @ Domestic Fits says:

What a sweet girl! I was so shy as a kid two, so that warms my heart :) And a warm heart needs some cold ice cream!

Valerie @ From Valerie's Kitchen says:

Obviously you and I are long lost twins or some such thing. We posted ice cream on the same day in the middle of January! That is somewhat amazing isn't it? This looks SO good Kim…I'll be right over :)

  11. 11

You know, you and me we need to talk. It's getting to the point where I dread Sundays because I know I'll inevitably slobber with desire over your ice cream creations and have horrible self control. This can't go on – what do you have to say for yourself?!
    Anyways. YUMMM.

    Katherine Martinelli says:

You're right, I am in awe of your awesomeness! This ice cream looks delicious. Soooo good. Even though it's freezing outside. ;-)

  13. 13
    The Mom Chef says:

My brother was a farrier once upon a time and yeah, he was buff. They kinda have to be, don't they. ::sigh::

Anyhow, the ice cream is amazing. Totally delicious-looking. :)

    Chic & Gorgeous Treats says:

Kim Bee, I think I said it before.. you're such an amazing ice-cream queen. I have been bookmarking so many of your ice-cream recipe. Probably I should just have an ice-cream party and 'force' all my friends to eat them. LOL.. that way I get to try out all of them.. hehe… I love having butter pecan and chocolate ice-cream together. They are such great combo. Have a good week!! hugggss

  15. 15

I love butter pecan ice cream… It's one of my favorites YUM. Yours looks fantastic.

  16. 16
    Culinary Collage says:

I love butter pecan ice cream. I keep avoiding purchasing an ice cream maker in fear that I might start making and eating ice cream everyday…yum!

  17. 17

Wow, this ice cream recipe is so simple, no eggs. I have to give it a go! Love your story, too, Kim.

  18. 18

Hahahahaha you always make me smile my dear! I love reading your posts! <3

And I love this recipe! It is actually a good time for me as it is summer down here (even though unexpectedly cool)! YUM!

  19. 19

Lol always a perk to get both!

  20. 20

Thank you. I think facebook was invented by the devil. People don't know how to communicate any more.

  21. 21

Lol, I love the hot/cold thing. Thanks I was so surprised by the double.

  22. 22

Just don't drink anything while you read. I don't want a bill in the mail to get liquid out of your computer. Lol! I actually turned my heat up tonight. It's flipping cold here today.

  23. 23

Thanks for coming by. You should make it for him Good for bribing them to do things like clean the gutters and whatnot.

  24. 24

Hey that just ain't right. So I now declare you eye candy. Every dude needs to be eye candy in their lifetime. I'm telling you girls swoon over dudes who can cook. A guy who can cook ice cream gets marks way higher than any Brad Pitt or flavour of the month.

  25. 25

Could you imagine if I asked him to pose for the blog? I just might have to get the nerve next time I see him. Hey mister you don't mind a bunch of cooks drooling over your pic do you? Sad part is I will probably tell him to read this at this point. Lol!

  26. 26

I also have no idea how you can do no carbs. I love my carbs.

  27. 27

Lol thanks. I always like to sum things up for folks. With a touch of crazy thrown in.

  28. 28

I was painfully shy as a kid. Most of my adult life too. Now not so much. Unless it`s with big groups. Then I get a bit intimidated.

  29. 29

Great minds think alike. I loved your like crazy and next time I head to the market I am going to try to find that coconut stuff. Not sure if we have it here in Canada, land of the suckie products!!!

  30. 30

I say "I'm full and happy". *wipes a pecan from the corner of her mouth*

  31. 31

Lol, I love that line. It is so cold out right now. I can barely stand our Canuck winters any more. I need to hibernate till spring.

  32. 32

Mini-me was going to be one. I was all cool that's great money but you'd have old dudes staring at your bum all day every day. Be kind of weird. Now I am that old dudette staring at some young dude's bum at the barn. Lol!

What ice cream. Oh yah, that.

  33. 33

Okay so you have totally made me want to try making a chocolate pecan. I'll name it after you if I decide to whip one up this week. Lol! Thanks for the kind words. I love me some ice cream. What I really like about it is I can eat one sample of it and be okay. It's not something I want to eat the whole pint of. I love it but I seem to have good self control with it. Other things not so much.

  34. 34

    Thank you so much!

  35. 35

Lol I was worried but I seem to be able to control myself with it unlike sweets. It's cool too cuz you can do sorbets which are healthy. I mean in theory you can, I just never seem to. Lol!

  36. 36

I have never done the egg ones for some reason. I am not a custard fan so think it reminds me too much of custard. Plus no cooking so it's simple.

  37. 37

Thanks Manu. I love having you come by. I wish it was summer here. I might have to abandon Canada and come stay with you till spring. Lol!

  38. 38

What a great surprise, having the opportunity to catch up with an old friend! Makes for a very nice day.
Your ice cream does look delicious and I do have a weakness for butter pecan-no matter what the weather. Simply delicious.

  40. 40

I WANT AN ICE CREAM MAKER!!! It makes me crazy jealous when I see these posts for ice cream knowing I have no way of making it. And Butter Pecan? You totally speak my language…one of the best ice creams ever.

  41. 41
    Chef Dennis says:

ok, butter pecan has to be one my all time favorite ice creams! growing up it was always my mothers pick and not always something that we could find. I can't wait to give it a try!

  42. 42

Thanks so much Tina. I was happy to see her for sure.

  43. 43

  44. 44

Lol, you must try getting one. I never thought I'd love it so much. Making your own means you can control additives and chemicals which is really nice.

  45. 45

My dad loved it too. So I have fond memories of it. Glad you liked it, hope you try it out. Would love to see your spin on it.

  46. 46
    Free Spirit Eater says:

I enjoy a good butter pecan ice cream, but love it mainly b/c it brings back great memories of seeing my father indulge in sweets for the first time as a kid. I always saw him as the serious pastor, no time for foolishness, but to see the big kid smile on his face as he burrowed into the bottom of the butter pecan gallon of ice cream made me see him differently that day, and definitely made me smile. Thanks for bringing back great memories, I hope to make this recipe for him someday, I know it will mean a lot to him =]

    Anne@FromMySweetHeart says:

Kim…butter pecan was my dad's favorite, too. And I eat it every year now on his birthday. I've yet to make my own. But let me tell you…I can (and do) eat ice cream all year round! Glad you got to visit with some old friends. And yes….I am TOTALLY in awe of your awesomeness!!! : )

    Tina (PinayInTexas) says:

Oh Kim, butter pecan is my hubby's favorite! Thanks for posting this great recipe of yours! He'll be delighted if I make this for him!
Btw, I have an award waiting for you… http://bit.ly/yjpNgG

  50. 50

Oh man, this sounds amazing! I need to get a new ice cream maker stat, mine burned out this summer (over use maybe??). When I do get a new one, I have to try this, <3 butter pecan! Nothing wrong with a little eye candy from time to time ;)

  51. 51

This butter pecan looks to die for!! Just scrumptious!! You captured it so beautifully! If we didn't have tree nut allergies I would be all over it!

  56. 56

Ice cream is definitely a year round treat – regardless of what anyone says =)

  57. 57

Aw, Kym that is just such a sweet memory. It was one of my Dad's faves too so it makes me sentimental too. I hope you make this for him and give him a big hug. I miss my Dad a lot.

  58. 58

Hey Megan. I am so happy you stopped by. I am the same way. I have to indulge once a week or I start to go into withdrawals.

  59. 59

Hi Anne. Lol, I do think highly of my awesomeness some days don't I. *giggles* I get like that on my Dad's birthday and my Mom's. Also the day they died every year I get nostalgic for things they liked.

  60. 60

Hi Tina. I am so sorry, I am so behind this week due to a small personal crisis. I made a note to stop by tomorrow to check out my award. I am just headed to bed so will stop by tomorrow. You are so sweet.

  61. 61

I love my ice cream maker. I was convinced when I bought it that I would never use it. Who knew it would take over my blog. Lol! Eye candy=good, ice cream=good.

  62. 62

Oh nut allergies are tough. I think it would be the one thing if they told me I was allergic to that I would cry like a baby. I eat nuts every day. Must be hard to keep it at bay, so many things have it inside. I am so glad they label stuff now.

  63. 63

    Thanks Christine.

  64. 64

Thank you miss Tori! I am so glad you liked it.

  65. 65

    Lol, I know right!

Lol, I could not do the juice thing. Kudos my friend. Keep up the good work.

  72. 72
