30+ Sweet Valentine's Day Recipes just in time for Valentine's Day!
Awe, Valentine's Day. Such a sweet, romantic day. A day for lovers, for romance, for... excuse me for a minute...
Sorry, I had to barf.
Okay, okay, I'll admit it. I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day. I love all the baking and cute desserts. I love channeling my inner girlie self and making things in the shape of hearts. I'm a huge supporter of anything pink and pretty. But the holiday itself, it's just gross.
Sorry. I did it again. I know, I know. I'm suppose to wax on about how it's my favourite holiday and how I'm still so in love with my husband that every day is like a Nicholas Sparks movie. That's just total crap though. Well, I still love my hubs, but life is not a romantic movie and cutesy songs don't play in the background every time we look at each other.
Here's what marriage truly looks like. I get more more excited when hubs does the dishes than when he buys me flowers. If hubs left me sweet notes on the mirror so when I took a shower little love notes popped up in the steam I'd automatically assume I had a stalker or hubs had done something he feels guilty for. For real.
I know, I'm cynical as hell. I'm cool with it. It's how I roll. I don't get mushy, it's not really in my DNA. I tend to question everything, so surprising me is futile. Not even kidding. The hubs has tried to surprise me in the past and it usually fails miserably.
Here's my thoughts on all of this romance stuff. I don't need someone to sweep me off my feet. But I would love someone to sweep the floor for me. I don't need a romantic dinner once a year. Make me dinner when I'm exhausted from a long day of work, that's hot. I don't want to be pampered. I just want to nap, without interruptions.
I certainly don't want to be spoiled. I can spoil my own damn self. I don't want candy once a year in a heart shaped box with some stupid, sappy, melodramatic card professing undying love and devotion with glitter on every inch of the paper...
Wait, scratch that. I'll take the candy, hold the stupid card.
See, I'm totally romantic. I'm like a romance ninja.
Now here's some sweet, sappy, romantic sweets to help the rest of you get through celebrate Valentine's Day like a boss.

I have some boozy recipes coming up soon, as well as a bunch of sticky buns and sweet rolls. There's also some fabulous hot chocolate recipes and Nutella recipes coming soon as well. I even have some amazing vegetable based recipes coming up. Shocking I know. This sugar queen does occasionally eat vegetables. Not often. But occasionally.
Toodles! xx

Haha, you crack me UP, Kim!! And I have to agree with you in many ways. I still get teary-eyed and starry-eyed when I watch a good romantic movie but in terms of my ideas of romance, those have changed a bit since having kids and being chronically and eternally exhausted! 🙂 Those small simple acts of thoughtfulness that help lift the weight off my shoulders are more meaningful than the acts aimed to sweep me off my feet 🙂 And same here, we don't make a big to-do over Valentine's Day either with its too-often shallow facade of pretense and pressure to do what the media tells you and to spend ridiculous amounts of money like some horny immature teenager going waaaay overboard to impress a girl so she jumps into bed with you, or some snot-nosed 22 year-old girl who gets "offended" if she doesn't get her diamonds because, heaven forbid, she can't show them off to the world on Instagram. (Not to mention all the guys who are motivated to spend those ridiculous amount of money simply to escape the wrath of the afore-said snot-nosed women.) I mean seriously, people, get a grip on what real love and relationships are all about! Nope, instead my husband and I focus on expressing love for each other in small, meaningful ways on a daily basis and building our relationship throughout the year. That builds both lasting friendship AND makes the mad passionate love far better! 😉
That said...these Valentine's goodies look amazing and I want to plant my face into every one! 🙂

I freaking love your comment Kimberly. That was the best thing I've read all day. I feel the same way. People are so caught up in living their lives based on impressing people on Instagram and Pinterest. It's gotten a bit weird. I love the creativity those social media outlets have brought about, but it's also brought out a bit of a dark side. I come from a time when if my son proposes to his girlfriend he calls his family first before posting it all over Instagram. Nowadays people announce things on social media for family. Call me old fashioned but I'd rather learn that big stuff in person, one on one, not with thousands of followers, lol. It' a weird world we live in. Plus you should love people every day, and express that every day. Not that I'd turn down a horse or a puppy for Valentine's Day, ha, but I'd be just as happy to get them any other day of the year. It's so commercial and fake nowadays. But I will say I love the cute pink food. I'm always up for cute pink food. Ha.
I'm with you, I'd face plant in all of them, then eat them. Because after seeing the Bread Face Blog I will always choose to eat my food as opposed to smashing my face in it. *dies laughing*
Marye
There are so many yummy recipes to choose from, they all look perfect for the holiday! Yum!

Thanks Marye, we love putting these round ups together every month. It's so much fun to see the variety of recipes.

I have always liked Valentines Day, even when I was single. I do not care for the commercialization of ANY holiday, and my husband and I definitely celebrate each other for NO reason, but give me a reason to make a pink dessert? I'll take it! and one of each of these. maybe two of anything cheesecake...
Kim Beaulieu
I love pink desserts, I could eat pink food 24/7 if I had my way. But I'm with you, the commercialized 'tude of holidays is ridiculous. How about we just dig each other year round. That's more sensible. Now if hubs wants to buy me another horse for Valentine's Day I'm not going to object...

Ha, I'm totally wish you on the romance of Valentine's day - a clean smelling dog is better than flowers 😀 That being said, I'm still ALL about the food. I could have seconds from every item in this list 😀
Kim Beaulieu
Ha, glad I'm not alone. I'm all about the sweets though. Just let me eat desserts while I watch netflix and I'm a happy girl. Ha!
Kaitie
What a wonderful round up! I think i one the moulded rice krispies since i have never seen something like that!
Kim Beaulieu
Thanks Kaitie. I know right, those are super cool. We used to do egg ones every Easter for the school. It's fun and always goes over well.
Nutmeg Nanny
We never celebrate Valentine's Day. We usually just switch off years on who make dinner and call it a day. I love the idea of a "love" holiday but I just try to make that everyday 🙂 Also - I would happily eat each and every one of those desserts!
Kim Beaulieu
I'm glad I'm not the only one. Good to know there's others out there.
And thanks, I'm right there with you. I wish I had one of each in front of me right now.
Robin
Kim, these look really good. My husband loves sweets. So this will give me some great ideas.
I love Valentine's Day.
