These blueberry mango mojitos are the epitome of summer! The colors are vibrant and the fruit sweet as a summer breeze.
Welcome to Day 1 of Booze Week. I am on staycation this week, and will be off work from August 25 to September 3. My son is flying into town, and we're hunkering down for some much needed family time. So I invited some of my favourite bloggers to pop by with some delicious drinks for you.
Today I have a special friend of mine kicking off the festivities. Please meet Samantha of The Little Ferraro Kitchen to the blog today. I heart her, and know you will too!
Welcome Samantha to the blog today!
Hi All…and Aloha! I am so thrilled to be posting on Kim’s site! I have known her through our blogs since I started a few years ago and we instantly hit it off. A few years ago Kim guest posted on my site and made a delicious or shall we say “ono” mahi mahi with pieneapple salsa. I love her and her site because it’s genuine, hilarious, sarcastic and so creative! Plus we have a special Hawaii connection! Aloha brings people together! J
A little about me, my name is Samantha and I blog at The Little Ferraro Kitchen. I have always been fascinated with world cuisine and different cultures, especially due to my diverse background! I grew up as a Brooklyn Jewish girl who moved to Hawaii and then married an Italian guy and moved to Southern Cali. Try and say that 5 times fast. Ha! That means you’ll see everything from matzo ball soup to falafel to pastas on my site. It keeps things fun.
For Booze week, I wanted to make something sweet, colorful and a bit tropical. you know, just like us! SO blueberry mango mojitos were born! I have a new summer hobby (that I hope to continue after the summer ends) of growing herbs. I can’t believe I ever thought that I had a black thumb and couldn’t grow anything but at the moment, my mint plant is going ga-ga-crazy!! So naturally, I had to make mojitos with them…what else would you do? I really should call it my mojito plant instead of my mint plant..ha!
These blueberry mango mojitos are the epitome of summer! The colors are vibrant and the fruit sweet as a summer breeze. I made a quick mango simple syrup by pureeing mango with simple syrup and straining out the fruit so it’s super smooth. The best part is, if you don’t drink alcohol, you can totally substitute a gorgeous sparkling water instead of the rum.
Cheers! Or as we say in Herbrew, L’chaim and Mahalo (Thank you in Hawaiian) to Kim for welcoming me to her site!

Blueberry Mango Mojito

For the Mango Simple Syrup:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup mango cut into chunks
For the Blueberry Puree:
- ½ cup blueberries pureed
For the Mojito:
- 1 cup fresh mint leaves
- 2 oz. rum
- fresh blueberries
- fresh mango chunks
- Sparkling water
Instructions
- To make the mango puree, in a small pot add sugar water and mango. Cook for about 10 minutes until the sugar is dissolved and color begins to change to a pale yellow. When done, puree in a blender until smooth. Pour mixture through a fine mesh sieve and allow to cool to room temperature. (*Note: there will be extra mango syrup, save in a mason jar in the fridge).
- In a tall glass, muddle a few leaves of mint, a few blueberries and 2 mango chunks until the fruit breaks down and you can smell the fresh mint.
- Pour in 1 oz. of blueberry puree to the bottom of the glass and fill with ice. Set aside.
- In a shaker, add 2 oz. rum and1.5 oz. of mango simple syrup and shake and pour into glass. Top with sparkling water and garnish with more fresh mint, blueberries and mango pieces.
Notes
Thank you so much to Samantha for her beautiful guest post, and her kind words today. Samantha is my go to girl for all things Hawaiian. My hubby and I honeymooned in Hawaii eons ago, and I've loved the place ever since. My daughter's name is actually Hawaiian. We're hoping to take her to the island next year so her and her brother get to see where her name came from.
I love working with Samantha any chance I get and I am so thrilled she agreed to do this for me. I couldn't think of anyone I'd rather have kick off Booze Week. Samantha you did me proud, I love this drink and hope I can try it one day soon.
Make sure y'all stop by Samantha's blog, The Little Ferrraro Kitchen to get to know her. You can follow her on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest as well. I say stalk her everywhere. She will keep you inspired and happy.

Well, if we're talking any drink, then it's iced tea. But if we're talking booze, then I love my tequila shots..!
Kim Beaulieu
I like the way you roll Rusty.

Decisions, decisions. Margaritas are always good but I think I would choose mojito.
Kim Beaulieu
It's hard right. Like picking a favourite kid, cannot be done.

I have to say coffee as my favorite beverage since it is what I drink the most other than water. I really like a large variety of drinks though so I really don't have a favorite.
Kim Beaulieu
Mine is pepsi, I drink way too much of it.
Annette
I love to try new drinks, but I especially love flavored margaritas; last month I had a prickly pear margarita and it was delicious.
