This Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate is so easy to make. Using a crock pot is a great way to make the best hot chocolate for a crowd!
Okay, so this slow cooker hot chocolate is seriously adorable right? You could also say it's wickedly cute.
Seriously, I can't help myself. I like cute food and I cannot lie!
It's a serious addiction at this point. So is hot chocolate. I find myself coming up with any excuse to make it.
Same goes for mason jars. If I can find an excuse to put something in a mason jar my world becomes a happier place. Honestly, I have a serious mason jar problem. If I'm being completely honest, I think I have about 300 of them at this point.
Going for help is not an option. I have no plans to give up my mason jar fetish or my hot chocolate obsession. In fact I say let's have more of both.
You will love this stuff. It's made in your slow cooker so you won't risk burning the chocolate. Slow cookers are amazing for making things like this.
I wanted to think outside the box to make something simple that can simmer while I'm busy putzing at the barn in the freezing cold. Then, when I get home from the barn I have hot chocolate to warm up with. Brilliant, right?!
If you're feeling wild and crazy add some food colouring to the whipping cream for a bright, colourful topping!

Slow Cooker Confetti Cake Batter and White Chocolate Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
Initial ingredients:
- 8 cups milk
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- 8 oz white chocolate
- 1 tsp vanilla
Final Ingredients (to add 30 minutes before done):
- ¼ cup dry cake mix
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup corn syrup or honey
- 1 dash salt
Whipped Cream:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 4 tbsp granulated sugar
Garnish:
- ¼ cup confetti sprinkles
Instructions
Initial ingredients:
- Add your initial ingredients to the crock pot. Turn on high and cook uncovered to melt the chocolate. This should take about 20 to 30 minutes. Stir every 5 to 10 minutes. Once the chocolate is melted turn the crock pot down to low. Allow to simmer for about 1 to 1 ½ hours. If your crock pot is small, or the heat is hard to control on it leave the mixture uncovered while it cooks. Mine provides even heating so I’m able to leave my lid on. Make sure you check in on it every 30 minutes or so, and give it a stir.
Final Ingredients (to add 30 minutes before done):
- About 30 minutes before it’s done add the final ingredients and mix well. Leave uncovered and simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes.
- In the meantime you can line your cups with confetti by rubbing the rims with corn syrup then dunking the edge of the cups in confetti sprinkles.
Whipped Cream:
- Also make your whipped cream at this time. In a stand mixer combine the heavy cream and sugar, whisk on low to start, then increase to high until it’s fluffy. You can either spoon it on or transfer to a piping bag. Keep cold until needed.
- Once the hot chocolate is ready you can pour into confetti rimmed cups, add whipping cream to the top and garnish with more confetti.
- Serve with a big old hot chocolate loving smile!

That does look absolutely amazing! I am drooling right now! Thanks for sharing, I MUST give this a try! Even athletes deserve a sweet treat right 🙂

Absolutely. If you're training try using coconut milk, good for you and you can mix it with other things to get the right consistency. I did a coconut hot chocolate in December. It was amazing. But this is good for a cheat day.
Jennie @themessybakerblog
I think you have this competition in the bag, Kim. Nobody can compete with a confetti rimmed glass of melted chocolate. Love this!
Kim Beaulieu
Ha, you'd think with all that confetti but I'm getting my butt whooped. Luckily it's by a friend of mine so I'm a-okay with it. Lol.
Thanks so much Jennie. xx

Gee, somehow I get the impression you want us to go to that 100% Canadian Milk website and, among other things, vote for you! 😉 Will do. This really is seriously cute, and we have to support seriously cute, after all. Plus who knew you could melt chocolate in a slow cooker? I usually use the microwave, but the slow cooker removes every last worry (sounds like it works like a big bain marie). Fun post - thanks.

Ha, really, was I pushy? Lol. I love doing these. Normally I hate this blogger vs blogger things but this one is so laid back. It's just good fun. I did three last year. I think I won two and got my butt whopped big time on one. Had a blast.
I love slow cookers. I have a bunch but I'm still itching to get the ninja one that browns the meat before morphing into a slow cooker. How cool is that? I need that one badly. But I think I have 3 or 4 slow cookers so it's hard to justify buying another.

I made this recipe for my family christmas morning and everyone loved it! Now there is a snow storm coming our way tomorrow and i wanted to make it again as a treat but i cant find the recipe anymore from the link 🙁
Kim Beaulieu
Hi Angela:
Someone else emailed me about that too. Apparently they are doing some construction on their site but haven't informed any of the bloggers who contributed. I'm just finishing up another post but I'm going to sit down tonight to dig the recipe up from my files so I can just pop it right here for everyone who wants it. So maybe peek back in the morning. Just trying to finish up a job for a client really quick, then I'll tackle that. I wish I had known, I would have made sure access to it was available. So sorry about that. Make sure you peek pack. Stay warm if you're in the path of the storm. xx

Hey Angela. It's all updated with a printable recipe. Enjoy!
Thanks again for letting me know about the issue. I really appreciate it.

We're live near Toronto and made this during the last big snow storm we had. The kids had so much fun making it. Thanks for helping me make some memories.
