Cranberry Sangria is the perfect drink for fall and winter. Whip up a batch for Thanksgiving or Christmas. You can jazz it up for Halloween and call it Devil's Sangria.
I'm a sucker for cranberry sangria during the holiday season. It's the perfect drink recipe for parties and family gatherings.
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Casillero del Diablo Wines for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
I absolutely love this recipe because it's simple to make and perfect for dinner parties. This girl comes from a family of big wine drinkers. My dad loved having wine on all our holiday tables.
As an adult I have to be careful with my alcohol consumption but when I drink occasionally sangria is my go drink. Always. Every single time.
In all honesty, I really love fruity drinks. For me, any drink with fruit in it will always rank higher on my list of "must haves". All the better if the fruit is combined with a nice wine.
We were having Thanksgiving dinner here last weekend because the Canadian Thanksgiving is in October. Consequently, I had tons of fresh cranberries on hand. Perfect timing for a cranberry sangria.
This drink is absolutely ideal for any holiday gathering. It's easy to make and you can garnish it in so many ways. Plus it's just a beautiful colour and a super versatile drink for any occasion.
Normally, I use oranges in this one but I wanted it to double as a Devil's Sangria for Halloween. So, I kept it as red as possible. I just used an orange liquer to add a subtle hint of citrus because citrus works so well with cranberries.
This is a drink worth indulging in. You can sip it all day long. Plus you can tell people it's healthy because it has fruit in it. Am I right? So you're getting your daily fruit requirement.
What occasions can Cranberry Sangria be served
-
- Halloween - Serve in skull glasses for added spookiness. You can also add skull shaped ice cubes to it.
- Thanksgiving - I like to serve it with fresh cranberries for a festive looking drink. Freeze cranberries in ice cubes trays and add before serving.
- Christmas - Serve with cinnamon sticks, sliced oranges and frozen cranberries.
- Fall and Winter Family Gatherings - You can make a non-alcoholic version with sparkling water and cranberry juice for the kiddos and non-drinkers attending.

While the kids and Dads go out trick or treating - us Moms always stay behind at our neighbor's house to give out the candy! (As well as enjoy some lovely wine and appetizers...) I think this will be perfect for Halloween evening!
Kim Beaulieu
I like the way you think Martha. Wish we lived closer. I'd love to share a glass with you. xx

Thanks Ashley. I wish I'd taken a photo of the drink all jazzed up for Christmas. I guess I'll have to make more. Ha.
Lauren @ Healthy Delicious
LOVE that gorgeous deep red color! And yes, it's totally healthy if it has fruit in it. That's always been my rule. (I mean, how else can you justify pie for breakfast?)
Kim Beaulieu
Thanks Lauren. I'm a sucker for red drinks. Something so pretty about them.
I like the way you roll. I'm always down with pie for breakfast.

Thanks Carolyn. I think I'm far too addicted to the walking dead. I watch it pretty much every day while I work. Perfect timing for Halloween, I can't believe how many people throw Walking Dead parties for it. Or weekly while they watch the show. It's like a cult. And I'm one of them. Ha.
Susan
I love the deep red color of this and it sounds delicious with that cranberry juice and hint of citrus. I see this as the perfect winter sipper.

Thanks so much Susan. I just love a good winter sip. Makes a great mulled wine too.

I just made a version of this for Halloween! It was delicious with Dracula's Robber Steaks. Thanks so much!
Kim Beaulieu
I'm so happy you liked it. Thanks so much for letting me know. You sound like you enjoy Halloween cooking as much as I do.
Chris
Are the cranberries pretty infused and easily edible?
Kim Beaulieu
Hi Chris. I just saw this. I'm not a big cranberry person so I usually discard them. But they might work really well for boozy cranberry relish or sauce. They soften a bit over the time they soak but aren't mushy. Hope that helps and I apologize for not seeing this sooner. Sometimes things get stuck in my spam filter for unknown reasons. So sorry.
MT
How many does this serve??
Kim Beaulieu
I'll have to test it out but I'd safely guess about 8. I can double check that when I make it for the holidays.
