Hi folks.
So...
are you happy!
I know I am!
Why you ask?
Well duh, Slow Cooker Saturdays makes it's return for the fall and winter months.
Yah for Slow Cooker Saturdays!
I don't know about you guys but for me I tend to use my slow cooker more often during the winter months. Personally I think it's due to me grilling so much in the summer. My slow cooker still gets used a ton though. So much that it's permanently on my counter all year round. What I love about the slow cooker is how much time it frees up. I started using them when the kids were younger. My kids were so involved in school activities and sports that I barely had time to cook. I found we were eating out too much. So I took control and started using the slow cooker on the really hectic days. It meant I could take mini-me riding, or B-Dude to hockey, or quite honestly both, and still have a home cooked meal.
I think what most people don't like about slow cookers is the fact that things don't get browned as well. If you are one of these people, I urge you to rethink how you use them. Just because you cooked it in the slow cooker does not mean you can't pop the dish in the oven while you set the table and wash up. During that time the dish browns up and if you have a newer model some of them have oven safe inserts. So the pot can come out of the slow cooker and right into the oven. Just make sure yours is oven safe before doing it. If it's not just slide the food into a casserole dish. I know what you're saying right now. You're saying "but Lunie, then there's more dishes". Dudes, that's what dishwashers are for. And by dishwashers I mean kids.
This particular dish does not go in the oven afterwards. It does however work wonders if you take the meat out and brown it up in a skillet. You don't have to but it just adds that extra touch if you ask me. But if you're juggling 4 kids with 8 after school sports I can totally understand if you want to just skip that step. No sweat. We all do what we need to do every day. You're busy, adjust your life and meals accordingly. Never feel bad about it either. Not every single meal needs to be complicated . Sure we all want to live our lives like we're pinterest models living in pinterest houses with our perfect pinterest children and 6 pack'd perfect Ryan Gosling pinterest hubbies cooking professional looking pinterest food. But let's be real here folks, cuz we're buds and I loves ya more than chocolate. Life ain't no effing pinterest board!
Ingredients
- 4 pound pork roast
- ¾ cups brown sugar use less if watching your sugar intake
- ¾ to 1 cup chicken or veggie broth
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- ½ cup teriyaki sauce
- ½ to 1 cup of chopped pineapple I used 1 cup of fresh pineapple
- ½ cup pineapple sauce I used a brand called The Alps, Pineapple Ham Glaze. You can sub in pineapple juice. Even the juice from canned pineapple would be okay.
- 1 package of mini slider buns
Instructions
- Place your roast in the slow cooker.
- In a bowl combine your brown sugar, broth and spice. Whisk it up and then pour it over the roast.
- Turn slow cooker on low and cook for about 6 to 8 hours depending on your slow cooker. It's done when the meat pulls apart easily.
- Now remove the roast and place on a cutting board. Take two forks and pull the roast apart. It should easily pull into small shredded pieces.
- Toss the pork into a skillet and add the teriyaki sauce, pineapple, and pineapple sauce/juice to it. Cook over medium heat for about 3 to 5 minutes. The sauce should absorb the juices well.
- Scoop the mixture over the slider buns. Toasting the buns first is a nice touch.
- Serve with a big old I need a napkin smile!
So...
feel free to pin these.
*Runs off to pin more effing stuff!*
Toodles and smoochies! xx

Wow, great way to start back up! I'm passing this one on to my daughter, she is the local crock pot queen. And on days I am really lucky she brings me some 😉
Kim Bee
Thanks Rita. I loved this one. I would think some people might not like the chunks of pineapple in it but I loved it. I am not even going to admit how many I ate. Let me know what you guys think when you try it.
Rebecca Walker
You're hysterical. Totally loved reading that, but thank goodness I don't have to actually DO any of that stuff because I have a Pinterest housekeeper/cook who does all my dirty work while I indulge in all my Pinterest uber chic hobbies. Now I'm toddling off to my vintage-inspired and totally tidy Pinterest bedroom for a Pinterest perfect night's sleep. 🙂
Kim Bee
You're pintastic!
Thanks so much my pinarific friend.

Slow cookers for the win, I wouldn't mind transporting my family to Hawaii with this gorgeous recipe!
Cheers

You and me both. Love Hawaii. Thanks for visiting.
Ramona
Yay!! Slow cooker Saturdays!! Pork and Pineapple go so good together. 🙂 Looks scrumptious. 🙂
Kim Bee
Thanks Ramona. I love the combo.

Am I ever glad to see this feature on your blog Kim! We are in the throes of fall madness; after school sports requiring dinner be ready when we walk in the house. I've had my crock pot out for about a month now and always love a good inspired recipe. Have several cookbooks so can rely on unique, and untradional dishes closer to how we normally eat and am delighted to know I can count on your as part of our team for recipes too! Thank you!
Kim Bee
Thanks so much Toni. I love using mine when we're super busy. I swear I used it daily when the kids were in grade school and high school. Otherwise we would have never eaten. They are such huge time savers.

Girl, Hawaiian pulled pork is one of our favorite. It's like...one meal and BOOM! You're in the tropics in the middle of chilly weather.
Kim Bee
Exactly! And it's freaking freezing here in Ontario so I need to be transported.
Matthew mmWine Horbund
I like the idea of this - a little sweet and savory pork!
Kim Bee
Thanks Matthew. It works perfectly together.
Jenn and Seth
i love this series! i use my slowcooker for like 3 things, so i'd love to use it more! this pork looks fantastic!
Kim Bee
Thanks. I used to barely use mine too. Once you start it becomes like an addiction. Almost like pinterest.

Great recipe! Love the flavors you're using to spice up your pork. I should really use my slow cooker a bit more than I do. I don't have a hectic schedule, so squeezing in cooking usually isn't a problem, but slow cookers are a really good choice for preparing some dishes, soups and stews in particular. Glad to see the return of this feature! It means fall has officially arrived. 😉
Kim Bee
Thanks. I was crazed when my kids were younger. We were usually going in 10 different directions. Life is more mellow now but I still love my slow cooker. I love stew in it.
Fall arrived with a bang here. It's freaking freezing. I turned my heat on. I miss opening my windows.
Kayle (The Cooking Actress)
I used my slow cooker today!
It didn't really turn out right but...whatever lol.
Kim Bee
Lol Kayle. What did you make? Some things work well in it and some not so much.
Nancy @ CouponClippingCook
Yum, this pulled port recipe sounds so good with the sweet ingredients. Such a cute sandwich as a slider too.
Kim Bee
Thanks so much Nancy. I really enjoyed this one. Love the pineapple in this one.

I love your Pininterest quote - coined by you, I presume.
I have never had a slow cooker but hear about them all the time of food blogs so might investigate one day. But I guess that would mean doing some preparation in the mornings before work and I'm not sure I can fit that in or even be thinking about anything but dragging myself about the house getting myself prepared at that hour.
Kim Bee
Well of course. Pinterest and I have a love/hate relationship.
They are so much fun Suzanne. I have more than one I like them so much. I think a lot of people don't use them due to the morning prep. My suggestion is to make up ziploc bags on the weekend and then you can just defrost the starter stuff and pop it in the slow cooker in the morning. I think lots of people do that.
movita beaucoup
I've got my slow cooker geared up and ready to go for the season. And I'm WAY EXCITED that Slow Cooker Saturdays have returned! Yippie!!
Kim Bee
Yah, we can rock the crocks together Miss Movita. I'll be using mine a ton now that I have to work a few days a week.
Meghan
I'm happy now too! Using my slow cooker means more time to focus on baking, and I get to try all your delicious recipes!! I hope you are feeling better Kim, talk soon 🙂
Kim Bee
Thanks so much Meghan. I feel the same as you. I love the cooler weather. We have time of use hydro now too so I think using the crock is way less electricity than turning on the oven during high time.
I am doing so much better. Look forward to catching up Meghan. Hope you've been well.
Frank @ Kraemers Culinary Blog
Could I have one please?! This is what I need now. 🙂 I never used a slow cooker before, because everything needs to be quick. Maybe I should look into one. You are absolutely right about our pinterest life's.
Kim Bee
You can have 2 if you like. What I like about the slow cookers is it's basically set it and forget it. We spend so much time at the barn I need a way to make dinner without being chained to the stove.
Asmita
Wow,
This recipe looks yummy! Time to pull out the slow cooker and make life easy!
Kim Bee
Thanks so much Asmita. I love my slow cooker for fall. It frees up so much time.
Hester @ Alchemy in the Kitchen
"Life ain’t no effing pinterest board!" I'm getting that printed on a tee-shirt! You almost have me persuaded to go out and get that slow-cooker I've been threatening to buy. Love the hawaiian twist to this pulled pork.
Kim Bee
Lol, I should do some up and sell them. I swear I love pinterest but there's a certain level of fantasy vs reality there.
You totally should buy one. I have a bunch. I think I have 4 now, I seem to collect them. It's weird. But they sure free up time during the day to do things like...oh...pin more crap.
