Well hello there all my lunatic fans. I am still alive and kicking here. Or sort of anyway. Alive and overloaded is more like it. Life just does not slow down here at the Beaulieu household. It’s always spinning wildly out of control. No matter how hard we try to be “normal” it just does not work.
We’ve been over run with issues this week. You know, just normal stuff like replacing your tires only to find out the bill will be double as you put it off too long so now you’re gonna pay for it dearly. Ah the joys of life. So now it has to be worked on again this weekend. Instead of being without my car for one day it will now be two. Yeah, we all know how much I love not having my car. Boo!
I have to admit I knew it was gonna be one of those days. My hubby brought my SUV back with the new tires on it and I gasped in horror that he had them put on the wrong tires. I mean just cuz we’re broke doesn’t mean I don’t have standards. I cannot be seen driving around in something that hideous. He looked at me like I was from mars and explained the blue lettering is just a coating and once washed will be white like my old ones. Yup….one of those days.
My son left today for a trip to Tennessee. He has a writing conference there. It’s his first time traveling alone so I have to admit I am a bit paranoid. He went to France once but that was with a group. This is him solo on a bus for hours and hours. If you’ve never heard the news story about the man who flipped out on the bus here in Canada and stabbed a guy well lucky you. But the momma has heard it, and watched it on TV and read about it in the newspaper. So yeppers I am a paranoid nutcase now until Sunday. Just ignore me if my eyes glaze over and I say anything crazy. It will be the panic and lack of sleep talking. Yes he’s 22 and a grown up but come on now, he is still my baby. There’s some real nutcases out there. I would have went with him but then, well, I’d be one of those nutcases. I mean I am anyway but I suppose he doesn’t need the whole world to know that.
Yesterday we surprised our daughter with an early grad gift. A gift we really could not afford but did anyway. We’ve been sharing one computer for awhile now as our lap top’s motherboard went kerplunk. So we had noticed her grades slipping a bit as she was sharing the main PC with her Dad who is also in school. So we made a decision to get her one and give it to her now. We had bought our son one too when he graduated high school. Difference being we were financially secure then so we were able to pay cash. Not so lucky this time. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. She was so funny. If you don’t know Kiana she is a bit of a character. Headstrong, difficult, unemotional, doesn’t like to be hugged or touched or looked at really. I cannot imagine where she gets this from. ( my father used to joke she was payback for what I put him through) Anyway we tried to make it a nice surprise and ended up in stitches trying to get her to cooperate. There were alot of why’s and what’s and eye-rolling. Getting her to close her eyes was like pulling teeth. All in all it ended up working out well and she is now happy in her room watching movies….I mean doing school work.
Okay so I have been cooking, just not anything new or exciting. So besides no time to post there has been no recipes worthy of it. Tonight was just a nice pot roast din-din to celebrate Bray’s adventure. You already have the recipe so no need to post a repeat. I’ve made garlic knots and spaghetti. Also chocolate buns. But those are repeats too. So here’s the deal, how about shepherd’s pie tomorrow? Sound yummy? Not sure if I’ll make my Mom’s recipe or a new one I’ve been wanting to try out. If I can fit in enough time I may do fudge and chocolate chip cookies as well. We’ll see how the day goes.
I shall be trying out a few new recipes over the weekend so check back daily again. I was gone but now I’m back and since I won’t be sleeping thanks to my son, well I may as well cook. Toodles and smoochies to all.
