    Simple Spaghetti Sauce

So I was not feeling well yesterday and as you know I did not feeling like cooking. This for me means not doing 12 different things and cutting back to 2. I made cookies which I already posted. Then I made a simple spaghetti sauce. It's all I could muster up. I was going to make fresh dough for the first time with my shiny new to me pasta attachment for my kitchen aid mixer. But let's be honest I felt like crud so it wasn't happening. I did not like the noodles. We have been buying fresh for a couple months now and the dried is just not the same. I was wickedly disappointed. So much so that I left some food on my plate. I know, I know, this must have been some seriously bad noodle action going on right?! It's unlike me not to finish dinner. I know it had nothing to do with the 12, er, 2 cookies I ate before din-din.So, anyways, I do tend to go on and lose my train of thought eh! Okay so here it is. Don't judge me too harshly. I was ill. And cranky. And a bit wonky to boot. Anyways....

Simple Spaghetti Sauce: Ingredients: 2 X 28 fl oz/796 ml cans of whole peeled tomatoes (you could use fresh tomatoes if you like) 2 to 3 tablespoon tomato paste 1 cup beef broth 1 ½ pounds of ground beef 4 bay leaves (ya, I like bay leaves!) 2 tablespoons oregano 2 tablespoons basil 1 tablespoon garlic powder or salt 1 teaspoon chili powder 1 teaspoon himalyan salt ½ teaspoon pepper 2 tablespoons sugar Fresh garlic (I had paste from roasted garlic so I used that, you could use about 3 cloves, pressed) Shallot, diced Directions: Brown your ground beef. Add beef broth, tomatoes, spices, sugar, garlic and shallot and bring to a good boil, stirring for about 4 or 5 minutes. Reduce to a simmer and cover. Cook for an hour. Add paste and stir. Bring to a boil again for a few minutes, stirring constantly. Reduce, cover and simmer for another hour. Taste and tweak anything you need to. Serve.

Simple other than the long simmer time. So worth it though. Love pasta. Could eat it every day. Not that I do or anything. I mean I do not get up in the middle of the night and make it if you were thinking that. Or at least you can't prove it. Toodles and smoochies! xx Photos missing due to a G+ incident. They will be replace soon.

Mmm...I wish blogs came with smell-o-vision. I love the smell of fresh stewing tomato sauce. It's the Italian in me. I love when I visit my folks, and my dad makes a sauce and I wake up to the smell of it.

I may have to visit your folks some day. I've never had a real Italian dinner before. I mean at restaurants yah, but not a home cooked meal. This was lovely. I like the all day sauce I do in the crock pot too. I'll have to put that up here one day. Are you like me and constantly walking by it with a spoon? lol

Stefanie- it is so good. I forgot I had leftovers. Silly me!

Annie- thanks. Still feeling crappy. Hubby made dinner and that never happens. I don't like anyone in my kitchen or near my grill. rofl

Thanks ladies. Still feeling icky but it's nothing serious. Cannot wait until the specialist calls. Gotta love Ontario wait lists.

I always make my spaghetti sauce but if you know the Italian finds out what I put into it, they will kill me. Yours very Italian so you are safe. LOL!

I used to just use sauce from a jar. Not sure it was very Italian, but occasionally if I'm busy I still do it. Now I am dying to know what you use in yours. lol

Thanks Becka! I was just drooling over your carrot and avocado salad with lemon. I am totally trying that one. Not a huge salad person but that looks to die for.
