Welcome to Day 5 of Booze Week. Today my special guest blogger is Susan of The Girl in the Little Red Kitchen. My regular readers know me and Susan are blogging buddies.
We do theme weeks like Christmas Week, Cookie Week and Ice Cream Week together. We always have a blast. I've even had the pleasure of meeting her in person. I adore this lady so very much. So when I was planning Booze Week I knew I had to ask her to participate.
If you are in search of an incredibly simple, yet impressive fall cocktail then look no further than your own pantry to make Spiced Plum Jam & Gin Cocktail.
Spiced Plum Jam Gin Cocktail
Hi there Lunatics! I’m thrilled to pieces to be back guest posting here today.  The last time I was around these parts was over two years ago! I’m a bit overdue, don’t you think?  You might recognize my name because Kim and I just put on a celebration of ice cream epicness with #IceCreamWeek in August.
Now that summer is over, it’s time to start concentrating on fall flavors, warm spices and cocktails to settle down with by the fire.
Are you familiar with the trend of putting jam in your cocktail? It seems to have been floating around for awhile but I finally decided to give it a go and let me tell you – I’m all for it.
Jam in my booze is my new jam.
No more need for busting out the blender to mix up special fruit purees or mashing and smashing. Â Heck you could even make use of that almost empty jam jar shake things up right in there.
So why plum and not a more traditional fall fruit like apple or pear? I’ll tell you why, because I always feel like plums are the forgotten fruit, the middle child if you will.  In the beginning of the summer we are gaga over berries, then come the peaches and as soon as peach season ends everyone starts apple picking and poaching pears.
How about those plums? They get stuck right in peach season and stay great through October.
The poor poor plum, but today it gets its due and it pairs perfectly with a little cardamom and nutmeg.  Toss a cardigan on while sipping this cocktail and watch the leaves change, it’s just what you need at the end of the day.

It would be so fun for a Fall party.

Um, ya. I totally need cookies delivered to my door! And suddenly I'm very thirsty. Wouldn't you know it...my friend down the road has a plum tree, so the next time she offers some up, I will definitely say yes.
Kim Beaulieu
Funny how that happens. I get hungry every time I visit your site too Amy.

I guess I've been out of the loop because I hadn't heard of the jam in the cocktail trend, but this looks great! Love the cardamom.
Kim Beaulieu
Me either. We are both up to speed now. Now let's get jamming.
Amanda @ Cookie Named Desire

Thanks for stopping by. I think Susan really nailed this one. I could see myself sipping this on the deck out back, or sitting downstairs by the fire.

um, this looks incredible! Are you going to the potluck this weekend? I'd love to hang out again! CHEERS!
Kim Beaulieu
Susan brought her a-game for Booze Week. I love this drink.
Not going to the potluck, I've never been to those for some reason. I think it's because they are so secluded and far from the airports from what I've seen. Or at least the one is. My plan right now is Food Bloggers of Canada next month. Then I'm doing a cruise in January for Click. 2015 my agenda is Food Blog Forum, Blogher Food, Camp Blogaway and maybe IFBC. I had a blast in Seattle this past week, lots to see and do near the hotel, but it was a really odd conference. Lots of blogger drama, really cliquey and exclusionary, at least three girls were reduced to tears by some of the stuff that went on. I'd go again because I had a ball with blogger friends who live there, but I saw a side to blogging that was horrifying. It was the polar opposite vibe from food & wine. I just steered clear of the drama, not my scene. We had dinner the last night in the lobby and basically just said whoever wants pizza show up. We had an absolute blast that night.

My husband is a Gin lover. I should make this drink with all the gin we have.
Kim Beaulieu
You should. He will love it.
Julia
I hate gin. I'm not a fan of plums. For some reason, I bought both and googled how to turn them into an acceptable drink.
I made a spiced plum preserve, skipped the simple syrup, and WOW. This is how I'm going to get through the massive bottle of super floral Dillon's I picked up! I think this is the tenth cocktail I've tried with it, and is the first one to not taste like a 90-year-old woman smells.
Kim Beaulieu
I'm crying from laughter at your comment. Your last sentence perfectly describes my thoughts on gin. Yet with the plum it's heavenly.
Thank you so much for your honest and hilarious comment. Cheers!
