Instructions

Initial ingredients:

  • Add your initial ingredients to the crock pot. Turn on high and cook uncovered to melt the chocolate. This should take about 20 to 30 minutes. Stir every 5 to 10 minutes. Once the chocolate is melted turn the crock pot down to low. Allow to simmer for about 1 to 1 ½ hours. If your crock pot is small, or the heat is hard to control on it leave the mixture uncovered while it cooks. Mine provides even heating so I’m able to leave my lid on. Make sure you check in on it every 30 minutes or so, and give it a stir.

Final Ingredients (to add 30 minutes before done):

  • About 30 minutes before it’s done add the final ingredients and mix well. Leave uncovered and simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes.
  • In the meantime you can line your cups with confetti by rubbing the rims with corn syrup then dunking the edge of the cups in confetti sprinkles.

Whipped Cream:

  • Also make your whipped cream at this time. In a stand mixer combine the heavy cream and sugar, whisk on low to start, then increase to high until it’s fluffy. You can either spoon it on or transfer to a piping bag. Keep cold until needed.
  • Once the hot chocolate is ready you can pour into confetti rimmed cups, add whipping cream to the top and garnish with more confetti.
  • Serve with a big old hot chocolate loving smile!
