Turtles French Toast by Cravings of a Lunatic

Welcome to Brunch Week.

Today’s recipe is a personal fave of mine.

It’s seriously over the top, decadent, and dripping with all kinds of things you probably shouldn’t eat for breakfast.

But it’s for Mother’s Day….

so who gives a flip about right and wrong.

Mother’s Day is all about being a rebel, doing all the things you shouldn’t do all in one day.


That’s not what Mother’s Day is about…

hmm, that might explain some things.

I wonder if my parole officer knows about this.

Turtles French Toast by Cravings of a Lunatic

Decadent French Toast made with chocolate, caramel and pecans. A turtles lovers dream come true!
Serves: 6 slices of french toast
For the Toast:
  • 6 slices of bread
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup of milk
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
For the Toppings:
  • ½ cup of homemade caramel
  • ½ cup of chopped pecans
  • 4 ounces of melted chocolate
  1. In a bowl whisk the eggs, milk, cocoa powder and sugar till well combined.
  2. Pour that into a shallow dish.
  3. Dunk in your bread and allow each side to soak for about 2 minutes or so.
  4. Get a frying pan or cast iron skillet hot and melt a little butter in it (1 to 2 tablespoons). Lay the bread in the pan and cook each side till golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  5. If you want to keep those warm slide them in the oven on a cookie sheet with a cooling rack on top, and keep oven around 200 degrees F.
  6. Melt your chocolate now, just pop it in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds, stirring often. (every 15 seconds is the way I do it)
  7. Heat up your pre-made caramel.
  8. Then the chocolate.
  9. Probably more caramel.
  10. Then maybe more chocolate.
  11. Then toss some pecans on.
  12. Serve with a big old I Love Turtles smile!

    I’m sure your parole officer would turn a blind eye if you gave him/her a giant platter full of this ridiculously amazing french toast! You’re killing me with all the chocolate and caramel on that plate. And you should totally use Mother’s Day as an excuse to do whatever the heck you want! I think it’s a requirement (if not, it should be).
