So I did BBQ yesterday, but if you noticed I did not post. I have a great excuse I promise you! I took photos and forgot to put the flash on. Yup, I am such a professional. Stellar prep and photo skills. I would like to blame the fact that I was really, really hungry. Yet it was the one day this week I ate lunch so there was really no excuse to be so hungry I forgot to set the camera up right. So let's blame the fact that I have insomnia and that just has to be the reason I didn't notice the flash wasn't going off. I mean you have to be really, really tired not to notice the bright light flashing during your photo op of over 25 pictures. I must have been asleep standing up or something. Or maybe I should get my eyes checked. Sure, that's it. I haven't had an eye exam for a long time so maybe my eyesight is starting to go. I mean it just could not possibly be that sometimes I'm a dork and forget things. That just is not possible.

So tonight was a simple dinner. I did smoked sausages I get from Costco. So I just barbecued those up. Then I did up a quick batch of taters. I also added some grilled peppers and here's why:

So as you can see I had tons of peppers to choose from. Oddly no green which is my fave though. Not sure what happened there. Our friends have a local fellow worker who lives in Leamington which is the tomato capital of Canada. They also grow great peppers, veggies, fruits, you name it and it grows excellent there. They are right near Point Pelee and had I not paid attention during the dozens of times I've been there and had the tour I would not know that it's because of the soil quality of the Point that Leamington grows such good stuff. I mean Heinz is right there and we all buy Heinz products. My hubby did a work placement there last summer. He had to put in so many hours as an engineer at the Heinz plant to get his papers. He really enjoyed it there. Oh wow, I really went off on a tangent there didn't I. Overshare, it's who I am.

So on to recipes. Which is what you came here for. I love that you all visit me. It makes me smile every day to see people pop in to the blog. I squeal with absolute delight every time I get a new follower. Much to the horror of who ever is nearby or sleeping. What can I say, when I'm happy every knows I'm happy. So without further blah, blah, blah...here's what you stopped by for. Enjoy!

    BBQ Sausage:

    Ingredients:

1 package of smoked sausage, we use the mild italian from costco
1 package of D'italiano sausage buns
condiments- mustard, ketchup, relish, onions, sauerkraut, etc

    Directions:

Heat BBQ up ahead of time.

    Reduce heat to low.

Place sausage on the grill and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes on each side.

I like to poke them near the end so when you bite into them you don't make a mess. Plus it allows some fat out of your meal.

If other ingredients not quite done you can put them up top on indirect heat for awhile while the rest of your food cooks.

    Remove from grill.

    Serve.

    Garlicky Potatoes:

    Ingredients:

5 small russet potatoes, cut in half and boiled
1 to 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, I like more so I used 2 large tablespoons
4 tablespoons butter, you can use olive oil if watching your health
    Salt to taste
    Pepper to taste

    Foil
Pam Spray or any non stick spray

    Directions:

Wash and cut your potatoes in half.

Boil them until soft. I'd say it takes maybe 10ish minutes. Don't overcook or they will fall apart on the BBQ.

    Rinse and drain.

Lay out foil and spray it with non stick spray.

Lay potatoes on foil with enough edge to fold over and seal. Kind of like a little parcel.

Add butter (or olive oil) and spices.

Wrap tightly with foil and make sure there are no holes.

Place on BBQ on top rack for about 15 minutes.

Now put down on the bottom rack and cook for 10-15 minutes more.

Remove foil and put in bowl.

Toss or stir well to redistribute the garlic and oil.

    Serve.

    Grilled Peppers:

    Ingredients:

    1 or 2 red peppers
    1 or 2 orange peppers
    1 or 2 yellow peppers
    Non stick spray

    Directions:

Cut up and hollow out your peppers. I cut them in half and left them large so they'd sit on the grill without falling between bars.

Spray grill and peppers with non stick spray before cooking.

    Turn BBQ on medium heat.

Cook on lower rack for about 8 minutes each side depending on power of your grill.

Move them to the top rack for about 3 more minutes each side.

    Serve.

So dinner was easy peasy and delish tonight. My fave kind of meal. This is my plate and yes my food is not touching. Yes I do have serious issues.

Yup, that's what I thought. Good thing we aren't normal here.

Giggles! Okay my lovely readers. I hope you enjoyed this easy meal. Hope to see you again soon. Toodles! xx

Photos missing due to a G+ incident. They will be replace soon.
