Classic Crème Brûlée recipe that you would think is complicated, but it's far easier than you think. Give it a whirl and you'll be so happy you tried it.
That first crack into the sugar top is the best sound in the world. Honestly, you tap the top and then all you will hear is the sound of all your guests ohhing and ahhing and making happy sounds. The taste is out of this world! It is so hard to explain to people who have never tried it.
Today I have the pleasure of guest posting for my friend DB. He blogs at Crazy Foodie Stunts. I adore this DB. I love his food philosophy, he pushes his limits with techniques. He's always trying new things and experimenting in the kitchen. So today I wanted to set aside my easy recipes and do something a little more upscale for my friend. DB has a new series called "Adding Some Class with...", I'm pleased as punch to be part of it. I'm not sure I qualify but we'll pretend for today.
I met DB eons ago through the blogs. We've become friends and I have to say I'm honoured to know him. He's a class act, one of the most supportive people you could ever meet. When I drove out west with my family in 2012 DB was kind enough to guest post for me. He made me some fabulous Homemade Granola. Not that long ago I featured DB on Burning Down The Kitchen. I made Bucatini All’Amatriciana using his recipe for it. I had been eyeing it forever. It turned out amazing, so happy with the recipe.
I used to make Crème Brûlée when the kids were younger. We had a routine where every Sunday was Family Day. I would spend a big part of the morning cooking and baking. Then we'd spend the day going to movies or Point Pelee, whatever the weather allowed us to do. As the kids got older, and busier, spending half a day in the kitchen became a little harder. My cooking style went from complicated, long drawn out recipes, to quick and easy recipes. It just sort of happened. It's nice to still pull out the more complicated recipe every now and then. Reminds me why I love cooking and baking so much.
I used The Pioneer Woman's Crème Brûlée Recipe as a base for this since I could not find my original recipe. Plus I just love her recipes, even the ones that should be complicated are busted down so they become easy. I think that's what I love about her recipes. She makes food accessible to everyone. So I figured it would be a good recipe to fiddle with since this was my first go at this in quite some time. It turned out great. I could not be any happier with it.
You can get the recipe for this amazing Crème Brûlée on Crazy Foodie Stunts. While you're there make sure you stalk DB all over social media. You can follow him on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and G+. You'll love him as much as I do.
So thanks for letting me step out of my "easy recipe" cloak for the day. It was so much fun. I hope you make this. It's not as complicated as you think it is. Totally worth all the steps and waiting when you finally get to crack that sugar crust for the first time.
I'll be sharing another version of this some time soon. I got a little carried away making them and ended up making 3 versions. I figure go big or go home right.
Toodles and smoochies! xx

Or come to my house bringing all three please. I love creme brulee and I know these were wonderful. Everything you make is.
Kim Beaulieu
Ha, I wish we lived close enough to do that. We'd have a ball.
You are too sweet. I had so much fun making these. Was nice to do something more upscale.
DB-The Foodie Stuntman @ Crazy Foodie Stunts
Thank you so much for being my inaugural guest with my new series! The only reason I'm not happy with this dessert is that I couldn't be there to taste it myself! I hope I've introduced a whole bunch of readers to you and that my readers will become yours too.
Kim Beaulieu
I am so honoured you asked DB. I wish we could have enjoyed it together. How awesome would that be. You totally need to come to the SS conference. That way we can hang out.
John@Kitchen Riffs
Looks terrific! I love any recipe that requires me to haul out my torch. 😉 Heading over right now to read all about it . . .
Kim Beaulieu
Thanks John. Ha, I love that. I feel the same way. I see a recipe that requires tools and I'm like "YES". Ha.
Kayle (The Cooking Actress)

Kim Beaulieu
Awe thanks Kayle. You are so sweet. I love this dessert.

One of my favorite things to order for dessert but I've never tried it at home. You are an inspiration, Kim!
Kim Beaulieu
You must try it. It's shockingly easy.
Alex

Kim Beaulieu
Thanks so much Alex. I love this stuff.
Abbe@This is How I Cook
Creme Brulee is the best! My daughter bought me my own torch this year and we made pumpkin creme brulee for Thanksgiving. She torched and I held the fire extinguisher! Just kidding! Any way you can get'em, is the way to have 'em!
Kim Beaulieu
Ha, that's priceless. I love my torch. And the bigger ones in the garage. So fun. I love anything that involves fire.

I totally have a crush on creme brulee. I discovered that last summer. 🙂 I need to get off my duff and give it a try!
Kim Beaulieu
You totally do. Now get off your duff woman. It's so easy to make.

Creme Brulee is my absolute favorite dessert. I think it is the crack of the first spoon going into the custard that just always brings a smile to my face or maybe its the fascination of using a torch. BTW love that fun little spoon prop, so cute. Take care, BAM
Kim Beaulieu
I feel the same way, cracking into the crust makes me so happy. Eating that crunchy sugar top makes me even happier.
Thanks. I'm a sucker for cute spoons.
Paula - bell'alimento
Absolutely adore creme brulee. The crunchy top and creamy interior. Swoon.
Amy @Very Culinary
Oh Crème Brûlée - there's nothing like it! I made a white chocolate version 2 years ago for Christmas. I've never witnessed my family being so quiet! Lol.
Rebecca {foodie with family}
Creme brulee makes me all swoony. Always has and always will. I love the look of these in the jars.
Susan
One of the many reasons why I need a mini blow torch, so I can make creme brulee! You definitely classed this joint up with your dessert today!
Angie
I've only had creme brulee a few times, and never thought to attempt it myself! But now I'm going to try it, thanks!
Erin @ Dinners, Dishes and Desserts
My husband's all time favorite dessert! I need to make this for him, it has been far too long.
Brianne @ Cupcakes & Kale Chips
Such a classic, Kim. Love it!
