PHOTOS MISSING, WILL BE REPLACED SOON. THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING. xx

So it all started out innocent enough. We had a long week. So much stuff going on and so much driving. We've been burning the candle at both ends since school started. So on friday which is the only day mini-me doesn't have school, but does have work, I asked what she wanted to do. Was trying to determine what we were doing for farm fresh friday this week. Her suggestion was "NOTHING". We knew we were heading up to St. Jacob's the next day so seemed a bit silly to go buy more veggies and fruit. Also the thought of sitting in the car all day after spending so much time there during the week and knowing we'd be in it for the 3+ hour trek to St. Jacob's did not appeal to either of us. So we made the unanimous decision to stay home and watch a movie instead. We'd bought "Hanna" earlier in the week and hadn't had time to watch it so seemed like the perfect opportunity to do it. We got dressed long enough to run up to the store for supplies for the trip and also for lunch.

Luckily we didn't eat all that. Sadly there was more but this is what I photographed.

We also made some lunch. One of the bakers was bringing out fresh bread while we were there. We had planned on baguette pizzas, one of our fave things to eat. But the baker dude was showing us these new buns they were now making called soft buns. Sort of a cross between a thick sausage type bun and a sub/hero bun. So we decided to roll with it (haha) and make pizzas with them. Honestly we'll make pizza out of just about anything. It's just so dang good. So this was the result:

Simple But Oh So Good Soft Bun Pizza:

    Ingredients:

    1 package of soft buns
    1 can pizza sauce
    1 to 2 tablespoons sugar
    1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
    1 small package of prosciutto
    ½ cup pepperoni, cut up

    Directions:

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees.

Cut your soft buns in half.

Lay them on a parchment lined cookie sheet.

Take your pizza or pasta sauce and add sugar, mix.

    Spoon over buns.

Spread the mozzarella cheese over top.

    Cut up your pepperoni.

Lay you prosciutto on half your buns.

Spread your pepperoni on the other half. (you can combine, we didn't as mini-me likes plain pepperoni pizza)

Place the pan in the oven and cook for about 8 to 10 minutes.

    Remove and serve.

After lunch we got as much ready for the next day as possible.

There was also some pepsi, I'll admit it. The funny thing is we only used 2 pops, 2 waters, a couple of fruit roll ups, pringles and some pistachios. We were so busy all day we didn't eat lunch until almost dinner. Then we were so exhausted on the way home we barely touched the snacks. Now my cupboard is full of snacks plus all the goodies I bought in St. Jacob's have taken over my fridge. It's foodapoolza here.

So I will only tell you we had an amazing time. The rest will be found on friday's post for farm fresh friday. That will give me time to go through the bazillion pictures we took. Cannot wait to show you the pics, this place really is outstanding. We had a ball.

So I shall be back later tonight with a cupcake recipe for you folks. Also will be posting my Ice Cream Sundays post tonight. Until then I need to catch up on laundry and housework. Find places to put all the stuff I bought at the market. Funny how going away for one day can be so much work. My house is a fright. I don't do well with messy, makes me edgy. So going to go un-edge my house for awhile.

    Toodles and smoochies. xx

Hmmm, looks like you pack for a road trip like we do! We drove 1200 miles in 2 days and had enough "left over car snacks" to last us a month at home!! But then, one can never be too careful. You could get stranded on a busy interstate in July and starve to death before anyone noticed. Right? (I thought you'd agree!)

Quick pizzas are real lifesavers sometimes ... and good! These look great! Yeah, those junk food bugs ... annoying things that creep up on you unannounced. But you can always say, hey, the marshmallows are for this great cream topping for the cupcakes, the cookies for a cheesecake base, cola for a marinade ... good excuses, eh? Don't learn from me.

Hehehe. From super-healthy to junk-food central! At least the homemade pizza on a bun looked reasonably healthy and delicious.

I'd love my pantry to be stocked full of these yummies. Everything in moderation. The pizzas look so delicious and perfect for a movie night.

I think sometimes you have to give into the junk food demons and just go for it, so way to go! The real story is that pizza. It looks great. I used to make something similar with bagels, but your bread dude seems to know his stuff. I might have to get in on some of this.

The pizza looks really good. I think sometimes it is good to indulge. I know at my house if we dip into the bad processed foods we tend to appreciate the yummy farm fresh stuff more...we just find the taste is so much better.
