Fire up your grill this weekend and make these amazing grilled beer brats. Top with boozy salsa filled with bell peppers, onions, shallots, jalapeño peppers and garlic.

Grilling season is upon us and I could not be happier about that. I'm an avid griller. Most of you probably know I have a grilling blog in addition to this one.
Grilling is a way of life! For real.
I grill year round because I'm a die-hard grill fanatic. Whether it's a gorgeous summer day or a winter wonderland I'm on the back deck or the patio, grilling up a storm.
One of my absolute fave things to grill is bratwurst. Why?
Is that even a question?
C'mon now! Bratwurst is everything. Beer brats are everything. Eating beer brats while sipping beer is life. Seriously. It's just the best combination in the world.
Smithfield Yuengling Bratwurst are brought to you by Smithfield® Craft Collection™. You can nab them at Kroger, Ralph's, Payless Super Market, or most Kroger banner stores.
These little beauties are made with premium cuts of pork plus a special blend of sweet and savory spices. That means you get crazy good flavor in every bite.
The Smithfield Craft Collection brats are infused with real Yuengling Traditional Lager. You can find them in most Kroger stores in the meat case for a limited time. Buy a ton. No joke.
We picked up a dozen packages so we could host a serious beer brat party with our friends and family. Buy more than you think you'll need because they fly off the platter at rapid speed.
If you're hosting a kick-ass party with the beer brats you also want to pick up some Yuengling Lager. It pairs perfectly with anything you cook on the grill.
The lager has an amber color and is a roasted caramel malt that has a subtle sweetness. It's a flagship beer from America’s oldest brewery. How freaking cool is that?!
Swing by Kroger to stock up on grilling supplies. You can save $1.00 when you purchase ONE (1) Smithfield Yuengling Bratwurst, 19 oz. Bam, money saved goes in your pocket!
For this recipe I decided to put a fun spin on a classic. When I make beer brats I tend to do them in a beer bath or top them with peppers and onions. Lots of peppers and onions.
This time I decided to have some fun by combining peppers and onions with booze then topping the beer brats with that mixture. All those flavors combine to make beer brat magic!
Every so often you make a recipe you know will become a family favorite. It will get handed down from generation to generation and become legendary. This is that recipe.
I know right. Modesty is not in my vocabulary. I'm cool with it. I proudly declare this recipe a winner. We've made it 10 times now and it just gets better and better.
Honestly, nothing screams summer quite like grilling bratwurst. Beer brats are iconic for a reason. The taste is out of this world and they are always a hit with guests.
The salsa is packed with peppers, onions, shallots, garlic, and jalapeno peppers. I hit it with a little salt, some white pepper, and some red pepper flakes. Adjust the spice to your level.
I highly suggest squeezing a lime over it right before serving. Don't hit it with the lime too early if you want a crunchy salsa. If you want a soft salsa you can put the lime on earlier.
Basically, the best advice I can give any griller is to adjust recipes to your own taste or set-up a "make your own" brat bar to let your friends and family customize.
Save us all the hassle and use good judgment when making any recipe. If it calls for red pepper flakes and you have a sensitive stomach then leave those little red suckers out.
It's all about adjusting to your own taste buds. Love lager? Then lager that salsa up. Love a traditional beer? Then use your favorite beer! Just make sure you sip lager with the brats.
That's just common sense, right. If you're eating delicious beer brats make sure you enjoy them with some refreshing beer. Simple logic. Keep it simple and make your taste buds happy!
Keep seasonal ingredients in mind when making the salsa. If something fun is in season use it. Summer is chock full of amazing produce so get creative with the flavors you mix up.
Now get your tush outside and fire up that grill. Make a ton of beer brats then text me so I can swing by and enjoy them with you. I like mine extra spicy. With extra lager, man!
