No Bake Black Forest Cheesecake in Jars | Cravings of a Lunatic | My personal favourite dessert!
Welcome to FUN WITH JARS FRIDAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    WAIT....WHAT....NO FARM FRESH FRIDAYS?

QUIT YOUR WHINING FOLKS! WE GET TO PLAY WITH THESE LITTLE BEAUTIES UNTIL SPRING. NOW HOW CAN THAT BE BAD?

THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS, I COULD PUT STUFF IN JARS TILL THE END OF TIME AND NOT RUN OUT OF IDEAS!

YES I KNOW WE'LL ALL MISS FARM FRESH FRIDAYS, BUT I PROMISE THEY SHALL RETURN ONCE SPRING DOES. WE DON'T HAVE WINTER MARKETS HERE, I LIVE IN CANADA FOLKS, IT'S FLIPPING FRIGID HERE IN THE WINTER. BRR... CAN YOU SAY FROSTBITE?

SO WELCOME TO A NEW SERIES, THE LUNATIC'S OWN "FUN WITH JARS FRIDAYS". I AM SO EXCITED TO SHARE ALL MY IDEAS WITH YOU.

LIKE THIS LITTLE BEAUTY, "BLACK FOREST CHEESECAKE IN A JAR"!

SO FLIPPING COOL! BUT NOT FRIGID! NOPE, THESE THINGS ARE SUPER YUMMY. OKAY I SHALL NOW STOP SCREAMING IN EXCITEMENT AND TALK IN MY INSIDE VOICE.

Welcome my lovelies to a new series by me, yup, little old me. Fun with Jars Fridays is going to be so...well...fun. I really am so very excited to be starting something new. There is so much you can do with canning jars, it's such a fun little project. I look forward to sharing ideas and learning along the way. I really hope you enjoy this new series and experiment and have some fun with jars yourself. And if I say fun one more time I think I'm gonna...well....scream!

So Farm Fresh Fridays is getting shelved until spring. It really gets super cold here in the winter. So fresh veggies and fruit are not an option. Our one local farmer's market is closed for the season. I can still shop at the gourmet market every week, and shall, but that might get boring week after week. Plus it's not local goods, it's shipped in stuff. I shall return to Farm Fresh Fridays in the spring once the markets and stands open again. I shall miss it....greatly. I promise to still share my oil and vinegar finds with your from the gourmet market from time to time. I always find fun stuff. *screams*

So there you have it folks. The launch of a fun *bites tongue* new series. A farewell to an old, beloved, fun *grinds teeth* series.

I had a blast making these little things. I mean a hoot and a half. I mean slap your gramma kind of fun. *the Lunatic relinquishes all responsibility if you slap your gramma too hard and she slaps you back, or cuts you out of her will* I made a mess like nobody's business making these little suckers. But man oh man, it was a riot. This may or may not be my kitchen after, I have been advised not to comment on the matter.

I think the main thing is I didn't make a mess of myself. I mean cuz that would just be pathetic and wrong.

Oh okay, fun police, so I had to go take a shower after. So I had to have my camera professionally cleaned after. So I had to take a wrecking ball to the kitchen as it was easier than cleaning it. At least I had FUN!

I also had a riot taking pictures and guess what. No, seriously, guess.

    I'll wait....

    ladedah.....

    waiting....

Did you guess? You give up. Seriously? You should try harder than that. Or I'll, I'll, I'll....slap your gramma?? Oh, okay so I would never slap your gramma. Encourage you to is a whole different story, but me doing it, well, that's just wrong.

Okay where were we. Ah, yes, slapping grammas and guessing games. Okay so you gave up. I'll take pity on you. Here's the haps. I played with my camera today and actually got a blurred background. Now hold on folks, seriously, this is BIG news. I have the crappiest camera on the face of the planet. So for me to be able to play around and get this:

Is truly astounding. I did some reading and am trying to understand camera basics. So this must mean it is sinking in. Okay so it isn't and I did scream out to mini-me "I just got the blurred background and I have no idea how" but that was just a coincidence. I really am learning. *pfft* Aren't you proud of me? I bet it will still get turned down by all those "food porn" sites but that's okay. I don't even care. *grabs a box of kleenex*

Okay so I should probably just get on with the recipe now. Been rambling on and on and on and on....er, wait....what? Oh yah, moving on.

Black Forest Cheesecake- Fun with Jars Friday!

This is a no bake cheesecake!

    Yields 4 250 ml jars!

    Ingredients:

    1 cup whipping cream
    ½ cup icing sugar
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
    2 tablespoons cocoa
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    ¾ cup oreo crumbs
    1 can cherry pie filling

    Directions:

In a mixer combine your whipping cream and icing sugar until well blended. You should see some peaks and then you know it's ready.

In another bowl using a mixer beat your cream cheese until super smooth.

Now add half the cream cheese to mixer with whipping cream and icing sugar and beat until well blended. Once it is add the other half and continue beating until smooth.

Now add your cocoa and vanilla and beat again. Scrape sides as needed.

Now take 4 canning jars, I used the 250 ml size.

Place a layer of oreo crumbs in each jar. You will be repeating this step so don't use them all. I used about 2 tablespoons per jar for each layer if I recall correctly.

Now add a layer of chocolate cheesecake filling.

Now add a layer of cherry pie filling.

Now repeat those steps by adding a layer a oreo crumbs.

    Then chocolate cream cheese.

    Then cherry pie filling.

Now pop them in the fridge for about an hour or two.

    Serve with a smile!

Then get ready to make more cuz these little suckers are flipping frigidly awesome! You'll be scraping every last scrap out of the jar. Then licking the edge. Then licking the inside. Then being taken to the hospital to remove the jar from your face. *the Lunatic relinquishes all responsibility if you are stupid enough to stick your face in the jar*

*the lunatic did not just get back from the hospital after having a jar removed from her face*

Seriously now, would I do that? Do you not know me at all? *pfft*

*This jar is not being held for evidence. I swear it!*

Okay so I sure hope you had fun *cringes* with the first in what is going to be a fun *screams* series. I know I sure did. The doctor said the swelling should be gone by next friday.

Just in time for next week's FUN WITH JARS FRIDAY!!!

    Toodles and smoochies. xx

I gotta say I think I might LOVE jars on Friday. I think things in jars always makes them more attrative then just a traditional serving piece (bowl, plate, etc).
Great work Kim...now if I only lived closer (North Carolina is NOT near Canada)I could run over and sneak one of these.
