Sangria made with fresh peaches and served in a glass pitcher

This Peach Sangria is made with white wine, fresh peaches, and a homemade peach simple syrup for added flavour. Celebrate peach season by making the best sangria recipe for all your family and friends!

Peach Sangria served in a glass pitcher and mason jar

Peach sangria is one of my go-to recipes for family gatherings, as well as girls night in too. The thing I love most about sangria is how versatile it is. It can be made with almost any kind of alcohol and the add-in options are limitless.

You can mix it up in a variety of ways and play around with it to make it your own. Add a little of this, swap this for that, and you have a whole new cocktail on your hands. It's such a fun drink to play with.

Honestly, I've never met a person who doesn't LOVE this sangria recipe. The key is the homemade simple peach syrup. It just amps up the flavour and makes this sangria recipe impossible to resist.

Another pro tip is letting all the sangria ingredients hang out together in the pitcher for awhile before serving. Let all that good stuff have a little party of its own. The result is the best tasting peach sangria you will ever taste!

Personally, I think the longer you let the fruit soak up that delicious wine the better it will taste. It's also better really cold. I'm the ice queen when it comes to beverages. The more ice you put in my drink the happier I am.

    What is peach sangria

    • Sangria is an alcoholic beverage that is typically made with red wine, chopped fruit and spirits. It originates from Spain and is a popular drink in summer months all over the world.

    Ingredients

    For the Peach Simple Syrup

    • water
    • sugar
    • fresh peaches

    For the Sangria:

    • white wine
    • orange juice
    • Cointreau
    • fresh peaches
    • oranges
    • lemon
    • ice

    How to make peach sangria

    For the Peach Simple Syrup:

    1. Peel and dice peaches. Discard the peel and pit.
    2. Combine water and sugar in a saucepan and cook until sugar dissolves.
    3. Add chopped peaches to the saucepan, bring mixture to a boil, then reduce and simmer.
    4. Take off  the heat, allow to cool completely.
    5. Then strain the mixture.
    6. Cool and then store in the fridge until needed.

    For the Sangria:

    1. Mix the white wine, orange juice, Cointreau, simple syrup, and peaches in a large pitcher. Place in fridge overnight.
    2. Add the orange slices, lemon slices and ice right before serving.

Can I use frozen or canned peaches

    • Yes, you absolutely can!!
    • This sangria is best in summer with fresh peaches. That said, you can absolutely substitute frozen or canned peaches in this recipe. My family drinks this one all year round.

Do I have to use the homemade simple syrup

    • No, you do not HAVE to make the simple syrup.
    • BUT it will taste better if you do use it.
    • If you do not have time to make simple syrup I would suggest using peach schnapps for added oomph!
    • Or use a plain simple syrup you have on hand and use peach juice instead of orange juice.
    • There are no hard and fast rules here! You do YOU!

Peach Sangria served in a glass pitcher and mason jar with sliced peaches and sliced oranges

    How to store peach sangria

    • I store mine is giant mason jars in the fridge. Just don't screw the lid on too tight.
    • What I love about storing them in mason jars is you can use them to transport the sangria to parties. Plus it just looks so cute.
    • You can also use glass pitchers or jugs of any kind.
    • Some friends of mine make ginormous batches of it so they use buckets.

How long is sangria good for

    • Let's start by saying once you open a bottle of wine the clock starts ticking down. White wine is typically good for about 5 to 7 days, while red wine is typically good for about 3 to 5 days.
    • Sangria using fresh fruit and add-ins should be used with 2 to 3 days.
    • It should always be stored in the fridge once it's mixed.

How to tell if it's gone bad

    • If your sangria is cloudy it's likely gone bad.
    • Also, if it has a strange colour you should discard it immediately.
    • Lastly, if it smells or tastes like vinegar you should toss it out.

What can I do with the peaches from the drink

    • We freaking LOVE them over top of vanilla ice cream. Nothing beats boozy peaches over ice cream. Except maybe boozy peaches over vanilla ice cream with loads of caramel sauce over top!
    • Make a boozy caramel sauce with it. Peach caramel sauce is the bomb.
    • You can also make a boozy cobbler, crisp or crumble. My peach cobbler would work perfectly with boozy peaches.

    Equipment

    • 2-Quart Saucepan
    • Mesh Strainer
    • Glass Pitcher
    • 8-ounce Mason Jars

    Ingredients

    For the Peach Simple Syrup:

    • 1 cup water
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 peaches chopped into small pieces

    For the Sangria:

    • 750 ml white wine
    • 2 cups good quality orange juice
    • ½ cup orange-flavoured liqueur
    • 1 cup peach simple syrup recipe above
    • 6 peaches sliced thinly
    • 2 oranges sliced thinly, for garnish
    • 1 lemon sliced thinly, for garnish
    • Ice if desired

    Instructions

    For the Peach Simple Syrup:

    • Peel the peaches and cut into small pieces. Discard the peel and pit.
    • In a medium saucepan combine the water and sugar and cook over medium-low heat until the sugar dissolves. Add the chopped peaches to the saucepan and bring mixture to a boil, then reduce and simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes. This will allow the peaches to really steep, and the flavour to come through. Take off the heat and allow to cool completely. Then strain the mixture to get rid of the pieces. Strain slowly for a pure simple syrup with no cloudy effects or bits floating about. I use a sieve to do mine. You can also use a napkin over a cup, or even a coffee filter if push comes to shove.
    • Once it's cooled and strained you can make the sangria, or store the simple syrup in the fridge until needed. They last about 1 to 2 weeks and are great to have on hand for multiple uses.

    For the Sangria:

    • Mix the white wine, orange juice, orange liqueur, simple syrup (cooled), and peaches in a large pitcher. Place in fridge overnight.
    • Add the orange slices, lemon slices and ice right before serving.
    • Serve with a big old Peach Loving smile!

    Notes

I used Cointreau for this recipe. It's an orange-flavoured triple sec liqueur.
Make the simple syrup first because it has to have time to cool.
I recommend making the sangria at least 2 hours before you need it. If you have enough time it's actually best if you make it 12 to 24 hours in advance. Just don't add the orange, lemon slices or ice until just before serving.
Want it to taste like peach pie? Add a little cinnamon and nutmeg to it. Instant sensory satisfaction. Enjoy!

Basically this looks like THE perfect Sangria. Peaches and Sauv Blanc are awesome together, so I'm pretty sure this would be dangerous in my hands.

Whaaat?! You're so lucky to live somewhere where they have fresh peaches this time of year! I won't see a single one of those until June or maybe July. Haha. And this sangria looks so delicious. I have to admit, though, that I've never even tried sangria. I don't like wine but I think I'd love it when mixed with all that other stuff. 🙂
