Road Trip 101 with the Bee Family: Part 1 of 3 from FBF's Orlando Conference

Tradition is to take a pic of the kids at every hotel. See how much they love doing it.

    Okay...

    So...

Have you ever wondered how NOT to travel?

Well I have some tips for you!

    We'll call them life lessons.

    This is pure fiction.

There is no truth to any of it.

    Seriously...

    Not

    One

    Little

    Bit!!!

The Bee Family Tips for Travelling:

#1- Get lots of rest beforehand. Otherwise you might do things like lose you park hopper pass the morning of the conference. That would be embarrassing!

#2- Leave in lots of time so you get to your destination on time. It might be really awkward to show up late smelling like your car to a meet and greet where people are hugging you!

#3- Wear comfortable shoes. It would be really embarrassing and uncomfortable to end up with the bottoms of your feet bleeding and blisters all around the back, limping around like a complete tool!

#4- Make sure your car is in good working order before leaving. It would be a real pain in the rump to spend half your vacation budget on car repairs instead of enjoying some cross border shopping!

#5- Make sure you stay calm at the border. It would waste a ton of time to get detained and questioned like a criminal!

#6- Have all you travel info handy at all times. It gets really annoying to keep pulling over wondering where you put the map or the name of the hotel you're staying at!

#7- Make sure everyone is happy and well rested and well fed. People get super cranky when tired and hungry!

#8- Do some research about your destination so you are well versed in your location. It can be rather embarrassing to be led to your hotel by others cuz you're standing like a doofus in the wrong place looking at a map like it is written in a foreign language!

#9- Do not drink a ton of liquids in the first 4 hours of driving. This can lead to stopping every 20 minutes to find a loo which can be difficult on the road!

#10- Clean your windows once in awhile. Nothing says tourist like bug splattered windows! (I should probably clean those now that we've been home a week!)

#11- Arguing with the GPS is a waste of time. That chick does not care what you have to say or want your input!

#12- If your destination is a Coke themed park and you are a Pepsi junkie bring lots of Pepsi with you. Swilling Coke when you're a Pepsi fan is just bad form and will make you want to hurl!

One of each of us. Okay so it's my foot but it's still me!

We learned a lot, had tons of fun, and didn't kill each other! This is a huge success in my book. Operation Disney a raving success!!!

A brief stop at the Kentucky Horse Park. They closed the gift shop before we got in so we'll have to go back!

I think it's possible we actually had too much fun. I was literally delirious on the way home and kicked into the back seat to rest. I could not stop giggling and fell asleep with mini-me's pillow and blanket, with my shirt up around my head like a hockey player in a fight in order to block out the sun, and then popped my sunglasses over top just for good measure. I must have looked liked a drunken caped crusader to any passing cars. Sleeping one off. Honestly it's amazing they let me go out in public.

Beautiful country to drive through from Ontario to Florida!

Okay so to recap the road trip:

Number of kilometres travelled= appr. 4000

Number of kilometres it felt like some days= appr. 10,000!

Number of times we mixed up miles and kilometres= about 100!

Number of time we were late cuz we mixed mixed up miles and kilometres= about 10!

    Number of Pepsi's consumed over 6 days= appr. 100!

Number of those consumed by me= appr. 98!

Number of arguments with the GPS= appr. 200!

Number of times it was me arguing with it= appr. 198!

Number of arguments amongst family members= appr. 60!

Number that were started by me= appr. 58!

Number of swear words used on the trip= appr. 1000!

Number of them that were mine= appr. 999!

Number of bags of candy consumed= appr. 25!

Number of ones consumed by yours truly while driving= appr. 22!

Number of times we got lost= appr. 55!

Number of times it was hubs fault= appr. 55!

Number of swear words about that by me= appr. 550!

Number of times we laughed our asses off= countless!

Number of regrets about the trip= none!

Number of times I am so grateful to Food Blog Forum for this opportunity= LIMITLESS! BOUNDLESS! ENDLESS!

Okay folks the second part of this series will be Disney Fun with the Bee Bunch. Then the third part will be Conference Fun with the Lunatic. So stay tuned for more Food Blog Forum Conference posts. I can not wait to share our laughs in the park with you all. I am also looking forward to sharing my experience at my first conference with everyone. Keep checking in for more Disney Fun.

    Toodles and smoochies! xx

I can see the Hollywood writers lining up to make a movie about your road trip. Honestly, Kim, Chevy Chase had nothing on your vacation!

Lol, luckily I drive a tank. We have a Ford Expedition so it makes trips more manageable. But the walls close in for sure. We did 3 weeks on the road about 8ish years ago. It was a blast.

      Kim,

What a wonderfully creative and amusing post! You and your family had a road trip to remember. Did you have Chevy Chase along for the ride?

I was so glad to be able to spend a little time with you at our wonderful "Taste of Disney" lunch. So glad you made home safe and sound.

I think in this scenario I might have been Chevy Chase. It tends to happen quite often.

I am so happy we got to meet too. I was like a deer in headlights all weekend. It was experience overload. But I loved every minute of it. Hope to see you at the next one and talk more.

We did 3 weeks once on a trip to British Columbia. Very long and at times trying but man we had a ball. I love driving so I actually did about 80% of it on the way up. Only about 60% on the way home due to sheer exhaustion and rampant giggles.

Hubs had never used a GPS before so he was jumping on her info too quickly. She'd say turn left in 25 miles and he'd hear turn left NOW. We could not stop laughing. Next time he'll have all the kinks worked out. Or not. Lol. We had so much fun Mellissa. I cannot even tell people how much we needed this trip. It was life changing.
