Welcome to the first 2012 edition of Farm Fresh Fridays. Each Friday we'll take you on our excursions to local Farmers' Markets, Farm Stands and some day trips to other areas of Ontario.
We like to tour around the area visiting different markets and having some fun. I hope you enjoy coming along with mini-me and myself each week. Next week may include a recipe. If you would like to leave a comment letting me know if you like the photos only or if you would like to see us include a recipe using the produce each week I'd love to hear your opinions. Saturday we toured the Windsor Farmers' Market. It's small but we found some unique items so it was worth the drive to the city. Sunday we toured the Leamington area and stopped at Art at the Marina which is an annual arts and crafts show. Then we had lunch near Point Pelee. On the way home we hit some farm stands and stopped for ice cream. Hope you have fun seeing how we spend our weekends!
Saturday's trip to the Windsor Farmers' Market:
The Windsor Farmer's Market is located at the old Greyhound Station. Kind of a cool setting. Small but good stuff!
Sunday's trip to Art at the Marina:
Toodles and smoochies! xx

I, for one, would like to see a dish made with what you brought home.

Good to know.

So fun to see other parts of the world (well not that far, but since I have never been..). What a lovely farmer's market. As I haven't been to one for a long time, especially after kids, I've been thinking a lot about taking kids to one someday in summer. I hope they are old enough to enjoy walking and seeing fresh produce. You got beautiful corn - I love to grill and eat them!
Kim Bee
Ours is rather small. But it's always so much fun to go. Mini-me loves to go with me to them. I bet your kids would love them. The vendors love seeing kids there. The corn was incredible.

What a fantastic day out. I agree that's a perfect venue for an art show and what's not to like about a farmers market?
Kim Bee
We had so much fun. Great weekend all around.

Wheee! I love farmer's markets!
I'm going to my first one of the season today...because I have to drive 45 minutes to get there. LOL! *sigh* Living in the middle of nowhere is hard sometimes.
Love your flowers!
Kim Bee
Me too.
Ours is about 30 minutes. My fave one is 3 and a half hours so we go there only once a year. It's the coolest place ever. I agree, boonieland is tough.
Thanks.
Ramona
What a fun trip!! I loved every picture... especially the pepsi and the french fries. I haven't eaten breakfast yet... I could go for some even now. 🙂
Kim Bee
Thanks. Pepsi and fries are like the perfect breakfast.

I'd be embarrassed to show you a picture of our farmers' market, especially since yours is so glorious (and outside). Ours is in the building where they put the animals during the county fair. That's all I'll say.
I'm with the Foodie Stuntman. I'd love to see one of your concoctions, maybe using the living greens?
I'm glad Mini Me still has her shadow attached. Peter would be impressed.
Kim Bee
It's so funny cuz I look at ours and think it's so small.
Those living greens were a huge disappointment. I had trouble keeping them...living. Which is odd. Cuz I have a green thumb.
He would right. I was so worried she wouldn't have one.
rebecca

Kim Bee
I still need to pop by. I am such a pinterest slacker.
diabeticFoodie
Our market looks pretty lame compared to yours. Lucky you!
Kim Bee
I so feel like ours is small. So it's funny to hear people have smaller ones.
Rebecca Walker
Looks like fun!
Kim Bee
We had a blast.
Balvinder
What a wonderful trip! The living greens you bought stays good for a 10 days in the fridge if you keep in the same box. Happy cooking with those fun finds!
Kim Bee
I had so much trouble with those living greens. I got some bad advice.
Debra
I really enjoyed seeing pictures of the farmer's market and the art at the marina, even the pictures along the trip. What really got me is the picture of the fresh fries in the carton with the ice cold pepsi beside it. Since I can't have pepsi anymore, I was drooling. . pretty boring huh?? I don't think you have to include a recipe every post, I just enjoyed the trip, as I'm sure you did too! It's nice to switch it up once in awhile.
Kim Bee
I have so much fun doing these types of posts. I am sorry you can't do the pepsi thing any more. I still indulge, although less than before. Thanks for that. It is nice once a week to just post some fun pics.

Oh, I love this series Kim! Going to the Farmers' Market is one of my favorite things to do . We try to go on Sunday mornings to a local one here that is really good. I love all the goodies they have in addition to the gorgeous, fresh produce. What a lovely day you had!
Kim Bee
Thanks Valerie. I enjoy doing it.

Looks wonderful and it's great to see you having a good time with your daughter. Farm stands make me happy...and inspired. People have the typical (and probably correct) image of big city life in Manhattan. But our summer home on the tip of Long Island is a mecca of fresh produce stands, pick-your-own berry patches and wineries. A short drive upstate into the Hudson River Valley in the fall brings us to dairy farms, apple orchards and pumpkin picking patches. I love it around here.
Kim Bee
Love farm stands. We have tons of them here. I need to visit you. That sounds amazing.
Emily @ Life on Food
What a beautiful spot on the water.
Kim Bee
It really is. It's right near Point Pelee.
