This Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza is the perfect quick and easy dinner recipe for the whole family. Plus it's ready in under 30 minutes!
This prosciutto and arugula pizza is layered with sauce, pizza mozzarella, and thinly sliced shallots before it's cooked to perfection. Then, it's piled high with arugula and diced shallots, drizzled with olive oil and topped off with prosciutto.
Honestly, this pizza is a family staple in our household. I think we probably eat some form of pizza at least 2 nights a week, sometimes 3. It never gets old.
I've been making this pizza for ages, probably over 20 years. I never get tired of it. Not only is it delicious but it's fairly healthy as far as pizza goes.
The key to getting dinner done quickly is sometimes you have to pick your battles. If I am in a hurry I use store-bought dough. It's handy to have on hand.
I'm also one of those people who makes homemade dough and keeps it in the freezer for when the pizza mood strikes. It strikes often in our household.
Honestly, IÂ like to keep things like english muffins, pita, tortillas and flatbread on hand too. That way I can whip up pizza in any form whenever I want.
I really hope you love this prosciutto and arugula pizza recipe as much as we do! Looking forward to hearing feedback on it.

Tips for cooking pizza
- Honestly, high heat is best. Generally I use between 450 -500 degrees F for making pizza in my oven.
- You can also heat up the pan you're cooking the pizza on. This really gives the crust the perfect crispiness.
- Do not overwork the dough. Also, do not add copious amounts of flour when stretching it or rolling. Too much flour will ruin the texture.
- If you love a great crust you want to cook the dough without toppings for a bit first, then add the toppings after that. This keeps the crust crisp and prevents it from being soggy.
- Another great tip is not to overload the pizza with toppings. This one is always hard for me but sometimes less is more.
- Don't be afraid to let your imagination run wild when it comes to toppings and cheese. Use what you love!

Other things you could put on this pizza
- Mushrooms: Topping this pizza with mushrooms instead of prosciutto would be amazing.
- Goat Cheese: Swapping out the mozzarella with goat cheese would give this a wonderful flavour profile.
- Chicken: Adding chicken instead of prosciutto would give this a totally different and wonderful taste. Buffalo chicken would be awesome!
- Balsamic Vinegar and Caramelized Onions: Drizzling this with a really good balsamic vinegar and perfectly caramelized onions would take this to the next level.
- Peaches and Burrata Cheese: Switching the prosciutto out for peaches and then swapping the mozzarella out for burrata is the stuff pizza dreams are made of.
- Homemade Pesto: Honestly, a really fabulous pesto drizzled over top of this would be mind blowing.

Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 homemade or store-bought pizza dough
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 1 ½ cups pizza mozzarella
- 1 large shallot sliced thinly in rings
- 3 cups arugula
- 1 medium shallot diced
- 2 tbsp good quality olive oil
- coarse salt to taste
- ½ lb prosciutto
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F.
- If you want thin crust pizza you can divide the dough in half and it will make two round pizzas. If you want thick crust you can use one dough per pizza. I went with thick for this one.
- Spray your pizza pan with non-stick spray.
- Spread your pizza dough evenly over the pan. I spread it out and work it towards the outside then gently fold over the edges for a thick crust.
- Pop this pan with just the dough in the oven, placing it on the lowest rack for about 4 to 6 minutes, depending on the thickness of your dough.
- Remove carefully from oven. Now spread you pizza sauce evenly over the pizza crust. Top with cheese, and then arrange the shallots over top. Place in the oven on the middle rack and cook for about 6 to 8 minutes, depending on the thickness of your dough.
- Remove the pizza carefully from the oven. Toss the arugula over top, then the diced shallots. Drizzle with olive oil. Toss the salt over top if desired. Then gently place the prosciutto over top, I fold mine as I go. Basically almost like a fan. You can use as little, or as much prosciutto as your taste hankers for.
- Use a pizza wheel to cut into slices.
- Serve with a big old pizza loving smile!
