An Update on Aly of Cooking in Stilettos:
This Bourbon Laced Vanilla Chai Tea Latte was made by the lovely and talented Aly Clearly of Cooking in Stilettos.
Sadly, Aly passed away suddenly in January of 2018. She had just moved into her dream home and was so excited for new adventures in life.
We talked about getting our friend group together for a foodie trip to Nee York. She also wanted to have her inner circle come to her house for a small mastermind weekend.
All those plans came to an end when she passed away. Getting the news of her passing broke my heart, and the hearts of everyone who kew her.
Aly contributed this guest post to Booze Week on September 23, 2014. As I'm updating old posts I wanted to add a note about her passing.
I've decided to leave her original post below because I feel like it's a part of her life and our friendship story. Deleting it would feel wrong.
She came up with the recipe for this Bourbon Laced Vanilla Chai Tea Latte and took all these photos. I hope you appreciate her work as much I do.
More on Aly of Cooking in Stilettos:
I met Aly through blogging and we became great friends. She was one of a kind and I feel blessed to have known her.
We travelled to conferences together and bonded over our shared love of food and cooking. She became one of my best friends over the years.
Aly was my rock when life threw curveballs my way. She was the most supportive friend I've ever had.
One of my favorite things about Aly is her tenacity. She was not afraid to offer to kick someone's ass if they hurt you.
In the same way, she was not afraid to kick my ass when I needed motivation or made mistakes in life. I appreciate honesty in a friend and loved that Aly always kept things real.
I miss Aly every single day. Our talks, her laugh, her fierce love for her friends, all of that stuff made Aly was one of most amazing people I'd ever met in my life.
Every time I think of her I remember our adventures together. Renting a convertible and zooming around Miami, losing that car in Miami while we went shopping, almost getting mugged in an alley in Chicago. riding the bus in Orlando to Disney, shopping for her Manolo Blahnik stilettos on every shopping excursion, getting lost on the way to the club to meet our blogger friends, and so many more hilarious moments.
Aly's Bourbon Laced Vanilla Chai Tea Latte Original Post:
When Kim asked for a cocktail that would bring the heat to the party, well, I kinda took it a bit literally.
I love a toasty cocktail – whether it’s an Irish coffee, a rum with hot chocolate or this spicy sweet Bourbon Laced Vanilla Chai Tea Latte, I’m all about the warmth.
Yes – I said it – I laced mine with a super generous splash of bourbon. But here’s the kicker – this is not an individual cocktail that I brought you today.
It’s enough for a few people. Or you can make a pitcher of this drink and heat it up in the morning. It's a chai that is way better than that local coffee shop that you know you frequent in the morning on the way to work. Just don’t add the bourbon then – that would be bad.
This is a recipe that you can play with – if you like more of a ginger kick, you can add a couple more pieces to simmer.
More vanilla at the forefront – add another vanilla bean.
Want it sweeter – add a touch more brown sugar.
Want even more of a bourbon touch – well, then add 2 ounces to your steaming mug of chai – it’s all up to you.
So – when the weather takes on a bit more chill, make this chai tea latte and curl up while catching up on the latest fall premieres.

Although truth be told, I think I need a FEW shots of bourbon in it to bring to work! It's THAT kind of week.
