Easy no egg recipe to make a wonderful cherry flavoured ice cream. Easy as pie!
    Servings 10
Author inspired by Cuisinart's Vanilla Ice Cream

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup whole milk
    • ¾ cup sugar
    • Pinch of vanilla salt
    • 2 cups heavy cream
    • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    • 1 can cherry pie filling 540ml
    • ½ cup chocolate chips

    Instructions

    • In a stand mixer whisk together the whole milk, sugar and vanilla salt until sugar dissolves.
    • Now add your heavy cream and vanilla extract and mix for a minute or two.
    • Now add your cherry pie filling and mix until it turns everything pink. (lol)
    • Now add you chocolate chips and just fold them in by hand.
    • Cover the bowl and stick it in the fridge for about an hour.
    • Remove and transfer the liquid to your *FROZEN* freezer bowl.
    • Pop the freezer bowl on the machine and turn on.
    • Let it spin for 15 to 20 minutes.
    • You can serve immediately or you can pop it in the freezer for later.
    • If you do pop it in the freezer for later make sure you take it out about 10 to 15 minutes before serving it.
    • Serve with a big old cherry smile!
    • *yields 5 cups*

    Notes

A full can of cherry pie filling makes it really sweet. So if you’re opposed to super sweet cut that in half. I like super sweet so I was okay with it.
I have the 1.5 version of the Cuisinart. Adding the full can of pie filling makes it overflow a tiny bit. But if you’re like me you’ll just lick the side of the bowl (NOT WHILE MOVING!) so it’s not a big whoop.
Chocolate chunks would be awesome in this too. As would fudge. Or pistachios. Or brownies. Omg now I am hungry.

This looks like the frozen version of chocolate covered cherries-which I am addicted to. I would love to have a few scoops of this, but being the addictive thing that it is I would have to have someone hide it from me after that. Yum!

Sounds great! Chocolate chips make every fruit ice cream better 🙂 Cherries are generally underappreciated, I think, so props for this lovely recipe!

With ice cream like that, who cares if it's late. In fact if you want to remake the calendar and say that today is Sunday, that's okay, too as long as we all get some ice cream!!!

@Christine- I can usually restrain myself with ice cream but this one is killing me.

@anne- Thank you so much. I have a gazillion pink bowls and ramekins. Total pink fan. My blog used to be pink then I read an article saying it should be gender neutral which makes me sad. I may make it more girlie again after Xmas. Okay, over-share. It's like a sickness.

@Curry and Comfort- Thank you so much. This one is making me have serious cravings. I may have to padlock the freezer.

@Claudia- You are so sweet. Thank you so much.

@Tina- OMG me too. I can eat a whole box in one breath. I'm like that with after eight mints too. I bought some last week and am already through box 1. Ugh, so much for my healthy eating habits.

@Kiri- I agree wholeheartedly. Cherries to me are like peanut butter to other people. Lol!

@Kristen- Lol, I may have to do that. I swear if I was ever on time they world would come to a screeching halt and everyone would yell WTF Kim's on time! Lol!

@dena- Omg you totally should. Then send them all to me for being your muse. Rofl!

@claire- Dying laughing right now. Thanks.

@Elyse- It is SO good. I am trying to avoid the kitchen right now. It's calling to me.

@Janet- Yeppers woman. I shall make it for you and serve you a pepsi with it. Lol!

This looks amazing--I used to eat cherry pie filling out of the can when I was little. Who am I kidding? I'd probably still do it if there was a can around. Buzzed!

@Yummy Mummy- Aw, thanks. This was fun to make and eat. Loved it. Nice to connect with you too. Love your site.

@Cucina49- I always save some of the filling and "pretend like it won't fit in what I'm making" so I can eat it out of the can. Lol. Thanks for the buzz. I love my ice cream posts. My butt not so much.

I'm not a fan of cherry pie, but I have a feeling I would like it in ice cream form. It looks so pretty!
