Okay that was going too far. We'll blame that one on me watching Jerry Maguire the other night.

just take that leap of faith and let me know you're out there.

Cuz I adore every single one of you.

A fun twist on fudge for Halloween!
    Course Candy
    Cuisine American
    Keyword chocolate fudge, monster fudge
    Prep Time 5 minutes
    Cook Time 25 minutes
    Servings 8
    Calories 275kcal

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup minus 1 tablespoon milk
    • 2 cups white sugar
    • â…› teaspoon salt
    • 2 oz unsweetened chocolate grated
    • 2 tbsp butter heaping
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • Optional: ½ to 1 cup chopped nuts
    • Topping:
    • Icing
    • Food Colour
    • Googly Eyes

    Instructions

    • Bring milk to a boil in a large pot.
    • Remove from heat and add sugar, salt and chocolate. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
    • Bring back to a boil and cook for 5 minutes, then you want to reduce the heat to about medium and let it bubble gently without stirring it. The candy thermometer should read appr 234 degree F which is the soft ball stage. This takes about 20ish minutes, give or take a bit.
    • Remove from heat and let stand to cool. You want the thermometer to read about 110 degree F. This should take about 15ish minutes, give or take a bit.
    • Add the butter and vanilla, beat the fudge until it starts to thicken up and loses its sheen or gloss (takes about 5ish minutes).
    • If adding nuts do this now.
    • Pour into a parchment lined pan.
    • Allow to cool.
    • Cut into squares.
    • Topping:
    • I took pre-made icing and mixed in colours, then piped a little swirl on top of each piece of fudge.
    • Pop your googly eyes into the icing where you want them.
    • If layering with confetti pieces lay the confetti first then take a touch of icing and dab it on the back of the googly eyes and then press them in place over the confetti.
    • Let dry.
    • Serve with a big old monstery smile!

A quick note about the googly eyes. If you are making these for a party or event, do not put the eyes on too far in advance. They absorb the moisture from the icing and will only stay cute and creepy for a short time. So if you can affix them the day of that's what I would recommend. Mine held up nice for two days. Don't chance it, put them on as late as possible.

Hope you liked the Monster Fudge. While we're in sharing mode there's a few things I'd like to share with you. Please take a minute to continue reading and follow the links to the articles below. There's some great stuff out there on the web. Stuff you should be reading, besides me. I mean I love when you read me, but there's so many other more important things out there right now.

The blogging world is abuzz with a post from Less Cake More Frosting about manners and how pinning affects bloggers. If you have not read it yet I encourage you to go forth and read it. It will change your view on how we all relate to one another and how we share things. It hits home. It makes an impact. I hope you take the time to read it and let her words of wisdom resonate.

I would also like you take the time to read a post by a wonderful lady named Donna who blogs at Cookistry. Donna's husband is having some serious health issues. They have been through the wringer, and my heart just aches for her. She has faced her hubby's illness head on and has been there by his side. Needless to say with both of them not working the bills are surmounting. You know I don't usually make pleas for help from you all but this family could use it. Donna is an amazingly generous blogger who is always there to help others out. She is kind, caring and thoughtful. I adore her and think she is such a huge asset to the blogging community. If you can afford to donate please do so. You will be helping out a loving couple who could really use a helping hand right now. That's just good karma folks.

Now while we're on the subject of other blogs I thought I'd share something else with you. I would love for you all to go visit  Lynne from Design The Life You Want To Live. Lynne is a friend I've made through blogging. She is standing strong alongside her hubby who has cancer, fighting the good fight every day. This woman is beyond brave, beyond courageous, and she inspires me every single day. She wrote a post that will literally change your life. I know we all joke about cupcakes that will change your life and ice cream that will change your life. And that's all fun and good times. But this, this my friends, will actually change your life. She will make you think twice about bitching over stupid little things in life. The kicker is she does it all with a wicked wit that will make you love her. Like swimfan kind of love. She's that awesome.

So to put this all in lunatic point form as you all know I love to do, here's a recap:

I love you...but not swimfan love!

I love when you comment...it makes me tingly inside!

    I watch too much tv!

You should read that post about manners...cuz it rocked my socks off!

If you've got some spare cash rattling around your pockets please donate and help a fellow blogger in the process. Do good in the world! Karma people!

You should read about Lynne and her hubby...cuz I want you to take a step back and realize life is short so grab it by the balls and don't let go!

Oh and I love Lynne...swimfan style!

    Yup, that's about it.

    Who loves ya baby...

    I DO!

I love you so much I decided to have a giveaway. Now it's not a new mixer or a dishwasher or a bazillion dollars. I mean I would love to give you those things.  But you know I'm poor and, breaking news just in, hubs is laid off again. So times are tough and while I'd love to give you the moon, I sadly cannot afford the moon. What I can afford to do is this:

I will be drawing 3 names with random.org and sending each winner 1 batch of fudge, made by yours truly. Just to sweeten the pot each package will also contain a candy thermometer, a fancy shmancy wooden spoon I love for making  fudge,  and a package of chocolate for you to whip up your own batch of this stuff.

To enter just leave a comment. Simple. Tell me anything you like, what you ate for breakfast, your fave kind of fudge, what you want from Santa this year. The possibilities are endless.

To get an extra entry just follow me by email. Leave a SEPARATE comment saying you did so.

Giveaway open to all residents in Canada and the US. Giveaway closes on October 31, 2012 at midnight. Good luck! (GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED, WINNERS HAVE BEEN CONTACTED.)

Quick note to the winners, fudge will be sent minus googly eyes and frosting. Just fudge. Since some of you live farther the frosting and eyes won't hold up. The eyes will start to absorb the moisture from the icing after a day or two.

    Toodles and smoochies! xx

ps. don't expect this kind of love-fest every day. Feelings and touchy feely crap make me gag most days!

Kim, you are an amazing lady with a heart of gold. Boggers are such a supportive group of people. I just read both posts. I know Donna through FBN but hadn't read the latest updates on her hubby. Lynne is a true inspiration, I love her attitude (and her treehouse.)

Your fudge is adorable and every photo made me smile, a little bit bigger. Hugs!

Thanks so much Joan. I really love my blogger friends so it's important to me to support them. Life can deal a crap hand from time to time. It's nice for people to know they are not alone.

I am hoping to hang out in her treehouse next summer.

Yah, this was a fun recipe and post to do. Hugs back at ya.
