    Launch of a Lunatic

So with fear and trepidation I launch my blog. I'm really new to blogging. I've now read 4 so I'm gaining ground I suppose. This site is for the everyday cook who is looking for something easy to make. I am no expert I must confess. But I love to cook and am willing to try almost anything. I never really learned how to cook in a traditional sense. My mother was the type who did things for us. She sadly passed away when I was 15. Needless to say we missed her and were lost without her. Not only were we trying to cope with a monumental loss but we were trying to learn how to cook, how to clean, and basically care for ourselves. She was the ultimate in uber-moms. I miss her every day. So with her memoriam closing in on the family I dedicate this blog to her, Barbara Mahaney, best mom ever!

I will try to blog often and with humor. I don't cook every day but close. Once in a while a girl just has to order a pizza or some chinese food. I will share my recipes (excluding a couple of secret family recipes that have been requested not to be shared) and any tips I've stumbled upon. Usually through making a huge mistake. I will share successes and failures. I welcome any feedback, requests or silly observations. And of course praise and accolades are always welcome here.

You will quickly tune in to the fact that I am not a big breakfast person. Or lunch on most occasions. I have a wicked case of IBS that can hinder my cravings and cooking. I have a tendency not to eat until dinner. This keeps the belly mellow and my life rolling along. Does nothing for my metabolism or waistline. But a girl has to do what a girl has to do. You will probably hear lots of rantings about how certain foods affect my tummy. I also have gluten issues and wheat problems. So cooking can be a challenge, eating an even bigger one. But I love to eat and cook so I will overcome these annoyances. What's a little sore tummy in the grand scheme of things really?

So tomorrow please stroll on back to cravings of a lunatic. I will try to entertain, enlighten and maybe even amuse you. I have no idea what is on tomorrow's menu but I can assure you it'll be worth checking out. Nothing fancy but I dare you not to lick your plate!!!
