This was just a quick dinner idea. I make tacos often. So tonight I just spiced it up a bit. Feel free to add anything you like to these. They can be amped up or dialed down quite easily. You could also do them with chicken or make it a vegan version. Hope you enjoy them. Love Mexican food, we eat it way too much. Although I must admit we do the Americanized version of Mexican food.

    Ingredients:

1- 1 ½ pounds of steak (any kind you like)
    1 green pepper
    1 red pepper
    ½ white onion
    ½ red onion
    1 medium shallot
    3-4 cloves of garlic
Soft tortillas (1 or 2 packs of small or medium sized)
1-2 tbsps Tamari sauce (I like the Kobe version which is a thick one we can buy here in Canada)
Olive oil (for keeping things from sticking, add as needed)

    Directions:

Cut peppers and onions into long strips. set aside.

    Dice shallot. Set aside.

Cut steak into thin, long strips.

In a saute pan bring about 2-3 tbsps of olive oil to a nice hot sizzle over medium heat. Add the onions first, cooking for a couple minutes. You can turn down one if necessary. Also feel free to add more olive oil at any point if things begin to stick or char.

Add peppers to pan and continue cooking until everything just starts to turn brown.

Add garlic. (don't put this in any earlier or it will burn)

Add steak in same pan and continue cooking until steak starts to just start to brown.

Add tamari sauce and continue cooking until everything is brown and liquid is absorbed. Does not take long if pan is hot and steak is sliced thinly.

    Warm up tortillas.

Put a few nice heaping tablespoons of steak and peppers in each tortilla. Wrap and you can keep shut with a toothpick if you need to.

    Serve.

I really hope you like these. They are fun to eat and easy to make. You can tweak them to your own taste. This have some kick with the onions and shallots. If you prefer less kick just leave them out. You could also add spices. I left them out this time as I felt the onions, shallots and garlic would be enough for us. If you make them feel free to let me know if you like them. Toodles.
