So yah, ice cream again. What can I say, it is summer after all. There will be more. Also anyone wishing to join me for ICE CREAM SUNDAY please let me know. I will post a link to your blog directing traffic there for your ice cream recipe. No need to have a fancy button, I will do it without one. This is not yet a linky party. Just me having some fun.
So this is what I made the other day. I had missed a friend of mines bday the day before as my daughter was sick. So the next day I made her some ice cream and brought it buy. Yup, this is why people love me so much. I adore my friends and not only bring treats, but listen when they need to talk, do favours for them when they are in a bind and just let them know I love having them in my lives. This is a friend I have knows for 39 years, we met when I was wee little and she said she could hula hoop better than I could. And she could, I think it was because she was 4 years older than me. But that might just be my ego talking. Anyways, did I tell ya yet I tend to go off topic. Yah, whatever, here it is.
Strawberry Ice Cream:
Source- Cuisinart
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups (375ml) fresh strawberries, hull them first
¾ cup (175ml) whole milk
⅔ cup (150ml) sugar
pinch of salt
1 ½ cups (375ml) heavy cream, if you are a Canuck like me this means whipping cream
½ teaspoon(7ml) vanilla
Directions:
Hull your berries.
Put strawberries in the bowl of a food processor and pulse until satisfied with the size. Set aside.
In a medium bowl with hand mixer or in a stand mixer if you have one, whisk on low speed the milk, sugar, and salt until the sugar dissolves fully.
Stir in heavy cream(whipping cream for us Canucks) and vanilla.
Stir in reserved berries with juice from them as well.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
Take bowl out when ready for ice cream, and pour into you ice cream maker freezer bowl. (THIS BOWL MUST BE FROZEN, I JUST LEAVE MY IN THE FREEZER ALL THE TIME!)
Mix for 15 to 20 minutes until thickened.
You can either serve immediately or store in freezer until ready to eat.
If storing in freezer remember to remove about 15 to 20 minutes before you want to eat it.
Serve and enjoy!
*frozen berries could be used if fresh not available*
This recipe yields 5 cups and I use the 1.5 Cuisinart ice cream maker.
How jealous are you right now? Scale of 1 to 10, 10 being "you want to kill me".
Toodles and smoochies my lovely foodie friends. xx
