Weekly Meal Plan Week 10 - 10 great bloggers bringing you a full week of recipes including dinner, sides dishes, and desserts!
Hi peeps. Happy Saturday and Happy Weekend. I hope you have some fabulous plans for your weekend. Something that makes it stand out among all the rest.
I'm lying low this weekend. My big plans are putting my feet up, and relaxing. I had eye surgery today. I'm not even sure you would call it surgery, perhaps a procedure is more accurate.
For years I've had horrible eye sight, one eye waters non-stop, to the point that it can become hard to work, or even drive. So I had finally had enough and talked to my doctor.
She referred me to an eye surgeon. Yesterday he tested my tear duct and it was completely closed. Hence all the watering and strain on my eyes.
I'll admit I'm a pretty tough chick. I've had IBS for over 20 years so I have a really high pain tolerance. I'm not typically squeamish either.
All that changed today as my eye was frozen, not once but three times. I watched as needles, tubes and snippers came towards my eyeball.
I dug my feet into the hospital bed, wrapped my fingers around the sheets, all in an effort not to stay calm and not let my anxiety get the better of me.
All I could think about was my dad saying "it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye" over and over again in my head. I was so paranoid if I moved even an inch I'd lose my eye.
I kept picturing myself freaking out, and starting to act unruly. Then I pictured him poking me in the middle of my eyeball with needle, like I was a giant bullseye. Literally.
As I was lying on the hospital bed my mind was jumping all over the place in an effort to think about anything other than the fact that the doctor was using sharp tools by my eyeball.
Of course my mind jumped to The Walking Dead and "The Governor". Next thing you know I'm picturing Michonne standing over me with her sword. The mind is a weird thing.
So I laid there thinking about eye patches and whether I could colour co-ordinate my outfits with them. For some reason that was important to me at the time.
Then the meme of The Governor and Michonne where it says "cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye" pops into my brain. The brain is a weird thing.
So, yesterday was epic. Truly eye opening you might say. If you were, in fact, cheesy enough to say something like that. Clearly I am that cheesy.
Today I'm trying to recover from all the mental trauma. I'm doing calm things, like making a meal plan. And avoiding eye contact with people. Mostly because I can't see them.
