Grilled Italian Sausage on a Soft Bun, then covered in caramelized onions and roasted red peppers. A real crowd pleaser!
This recipe makes me so happy.

The hard part is my IBS doesn’t always cope well with pork. Or peppers. Or onions. Freaking IBS.

Some folks would feel weird posting about gas pills on their food blog. Not me. My regular readers know I have severe Irritable Bowel Syndrome and I talk about it often. Too often probably. But it’s a huge part of my life.
I love to cook and bake, I love to eat, and I don’t want to give up everything I love because my tummy is whackadoodle. So I thought I’d give the Charco Caps a whirl and see if they work.

I picked up some Italian Sausage and grilled those bad boys up. Then I caramelized onions in a cast iron pan on my grill, and added roasted red peppers during the last few minutes. I mixed those up and tossed on some salt and pepper. I popped some CharcoCaps® Anti-Gas Dietary Supplement Formula then inhaled my dinner.

For me my trigger foods tend to be pork, corn on the cob, anything with whole wheat flour, and sometimes cheese. I also cannot consume any alcohol. That’s likely my biggest trigger next to pork. Do you have a trigger or culprit food? One you love and don’t want to stop eating completely? Mine is pork. I love pork. Pork just doesn’t love me back.
I’m happy to know this product works. I mean who wants to suffer with painful bloating and gas every day. It’s freaking embarrassing, and interferes with your quality of life. I’d love to live in a world where I don’t have to live in fear every time I bend over to pick something up. I’d also love to go for massage, I never do because lying on my tummy is a recipe for disaster. I may try using this product and give a massage a whirl again.
I hope you get a chance to try these out. If nothing else you may be able to stop blaming your dog every time you eat something that triggers a gassy reaction. Seriously, let’s stop blaming all the dogs of the world and own our own toots. My grand-dad used to always says “wherever you may be let your wind blow free!”
Places to stalk Cravings of a Lunatic!
- 6 Italian Sausage
- 6 Soft Buns or Sausage Buns
- 1 vidalia onion, cut into thin strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 jar of roasted red peppers
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat your grill to medium heat. Make sure the grill grates are clean.
- Reduce one side to medium-low heat.
- Place a cast iron pan with the olive oil and onions inside of it on the medium-low side of the grill. Cook for about 15 to 20 minutes, stirring from time to time, you want the onions to start to turn golden but not burn. Don't cook on high or you will just burn them. You want them soft, with crispy edges. About 5 minutes before the onions are perfect, add the roasted red peppers to the pan. Continue to cook and stir until they start to cook around the edges. Toss with salt and pepper.
- Remove from grill very carefully (remember that pan is scorching hot so use mitts). Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels so you can drain off excess oil.
- Place the Italian Sausage on the grill. Grill each side for about 2 to 3 minutes, until it's golden and has some beautiful char marks on the sides. Remove from grill and turn grill off
- Place each sausage on each bun (you can toast them lightly if you like prior) and then pile the caramelized onion and roasted red pepper mixture over top.
- Enjoy with a big old non-gassy smile.
You must try these Grilled Sausage. I could not stop eating them. So much flavour, yet surprisingly easy to make.
