Turtles French Toast on a white plate

Today's recipe is a personal fave of mine. Turtles french toast, it's loaded with all my favourite ingredients!

Honestly, I love ALL things turtle. I can't get enough of the flavour combination.

This particular recipes is seriously over the top, decadent, and dripping with all kinds of things you probably shouldn't eat for breakfast.

    But it's for Mother's Day....

So, who gives a flip about right and wrong.

Mother's Day is all about being a rebel, doing all the things you shouldn't do all in one day.

    No?

That's not what Mother's Day is about...

Hmm, that might explain some things.

Anyhow, let's focus on this turtles french toast for a minute. It's the perfect recipe for breakfast, bunch or a spectacular dessert!

I mean, who doesn't love chocolate and caramel, am I right?

Everyone love turtles and all things turtle related. Myself included!

    Ingredients

    For the Toast:

    • 6 slices bread
    • 4 large eggs
    • ½ cup milk
    • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
    • 1 tablespoon sugar

    For the Toppings:

    • ½ cup homemade or store bought caramel sauce
    • ½ cup chopped pecans
    • 4 ounces chocolate melted
    US Customary - Metric

    Instructions

    • In a bowl whisk the eggs, milk, cocoa powder and sugar till well combined.
    • Pour that into a shallow dish.
    • Dunk in your bread and allow each side to soak for about 2 minutes or so.
    • Get a frying pan or cast iron skillet hot and melt a little butter in it (1 to 2 tablespoons). Lay the bread in the pan and cook each side till golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
    • If you want to keep those warm slide them in the oven on a cookie sheet with a cooling rack on top, and keep oven around 200 degrees F.
    • Melt your chocolate now, just pop it in the microwave for 30 to 60 seconds, stirring often. (every 15 seconds is the way I do it)
    • Heat up your pre-made caramel.
    • Then, the chocolate.
    • Probably more caramel.
    • Then maybe more chocolate.
    • Then toss some pecans on.
    • Serve with a big old I Love Turtles smile!

I'm sure your parole officer would turn a blind eye if you gave him/her a giant platter full of this ridiculously amazing french toast! You're killing me with all the chocolate and caramel on that plate. And you should totally use Mother's Day as an excuse to do whatever the heck you want! I think it's a requirement (if not, it should be).
