Cocoa Pebbles Krispies

Cocoa Pebbles Krispies | Cravings of a Lunatic | #krispies #chocolate #nutella #dessert

Hi folks!

Okay, okay, I may have lost my mind with cereal goodies the past couple of weeks. We have a family member who has kindly been picking up cereal in the states for us. So, thanks to Tricia, this weekend is all about cereal desserts. I may have lost my mind. Which is nothing new really.

The funny thing is I don’t even like cereal!

But I love baking with it!

Yup, it’s a mystery!

Just like me !!!

So this is for Tricia, who supplies me with lovely cereal and Wild Cherry Pepsi!

Easy to make Cocoa Pebble Krispies with a Nutella Ganache over top, then sprinkles over that for fun. Perfect for kids parties or just for a fun weekend snack. Anyone can make these!
For the Krispies portion:
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 400 gram bag of marshmallows
  • 1 box (11z/311g) of Cocoa Pebbles cereal
For the Topping portion:
  • 1 cup of nutella
  • 1 cup of milk chocolate, chopped up
  • 2 tablespoons butter
For the Krispie portion:
  1. In a LARGE microwaveable bowl, combine butter and marshmallows and cook for about 3 minutes. Check it every 60 seconds or so. Every microwave is a bit different.
  2. Remove and stir until smooth.
  3. Pour in cereal.
  4. Mix until well combined.
  5. Pour into a well-greased or parchment lined pan.
  6. Smooth out with a spoon. Good tip here is to spray you spoon with non stick spray. That way you can smooth the krispies without it sticking the spoon. It’s a cool trick I use all the time.
  7. Set aside.
For the Topping portion:
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a glass microwavable bowl.
  2. Pop it in the microwave and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes, checking it every 15 to 30 seconds.
  3. Stir until smooth.
  4. Pour over top of the krispies.
  5. Let cool a tiny bit.
  6. Then toss some cute little sprinkles over top.
  7. Serve with a big old “this is how we eat cereal” smile!

The frosting/topping recipe is from Hidden Ponies. She guest posted for me last month and shared her Nutella Rice Krispie Squares. So I suppose we can blame Anna for my new obsession with cereal treats. Thanks Anna! I had never tried topping mine like she did so I just had to give it a whirl. Totally worth it! I have no idea why anyone does them without a topping on them to be quite honest. You should be ashamed of yourselves if you’re not topping them with delicious goodness. Okay so I’ve done it myself. Remember these bad boys.

Ya, notice the nice big lettering across that photo. Take that photo thieves! This photo ended up all over the internet. While I love being all over the internet, I don’t really care for other people claiming the photo was theirs. I’m all for sharing the love but seriously post the link to the recipe with the photo. I found tons with the recipe and photo and no link back. Very frustrating. If you blog protect your work folks. It won’t prevent people from stealing your work, but it’s a good deterrent at least. So is carrying firearms. I am now packing heat. Okay, that’s a lie. But I may consider it if the Trix Incident of 2012 happens again. Okay…rant over. Here’s some more sugar to smooth over your nerves.

Okay so I actually have a couple more cereal packed recipes for you this weekend. I sure hope you like them. I promise next week I’ll try to post a salad, maybe two for good measure. I just got carried away experimenting. You remember the popcorn incident and the turtles obsession. I mean seriously they both have their own sub-category in my index. Go look for yourself. If you search you will see turtle has a category all by itself. And if you check you will find popcorn also has its own category. But this is coming from the lady who has ice cream in a category all by itself too. Clearly I have issues. They all seem to be about sugar. I’m not sure what that says about me. But then I’m lucky enough not to care, so there you go.

So take a bite out of life this weekend. Enjoy yourselves, let your hair down a little. And make these yummy Cocoa Pebble Krispies. You will thank me on Monday, I promise.

There is a similar recipe on the back of the box of cereal. No topping but hey, feel free to be rebellious. I kept the box so I wouldn’t forget the size of it for the recipe. I also kept the marshmallow bag. Apparently I’m convinced I’m going senile and I’m trying to protect myself so I’m not committed or something. Anyhow, while I was perusing the box, *and possibly shaking it to see if there were any leftover bits to munch on while typing this* I found a cool website on the back It’s called Ya, so I’m pretty sure I’m going to spending next weekend baking more cereal goodies so I’m gonna need bigger pants and I’m gonna need wider doorways. Thanks Wilma. Yabba Dabba Do, I’m never leaving the house again. Except to buy more cereal!

After seeing in this, why would we ever want cocoa krispies in a bowl with milk! Creative and delicious way to have your cereal. This is a winner in my book-yummilicious Kim!

    • Kim Bee says

You go girl. I say put the kids in front of a movie so they’re distracted and you get to eat them all.

    • Kim Bee says

Lol, I love it. Chocolatey milk is awesome. Or just eating cereal with chocolate milk to start. Thanks, I am having way too much fun with cereal lately.

  2. says

Yes! This is the perfect post for me today! My kids were driving me nuts asking me to make rice krispie treats and I was thinking, man, I wish I had a good recipe for something a little different. And now I do!! Can’t wait to try them out!

    • Kim Bee says

Thanks my dear. I have to say I’ve been dying to post them. Cross fingers tomorrows post works out. It was a bust on first attempt. So excited to see if I can get it to come together tonight.

I’m surprised that big brand US cereals aren’t available in Canada. I sort of thought those manufacturers were going for worldwide domination. I guess I’m spoiled, having grown up with all these cereals and cereal treats, I’ve kind of lost my cravings for them…although they do taste good when I run into them. :) Next time (hopefully there won’t be one), post about the photo theft on the bloggers network. We’ve been going after thieves with a vengeance!

    • Kim Bee says

Thanks doll. You must appreciate the cereal cuz man the cereal in Canada sucks big time. I can’t wait to start shopping over in the states. Hubs second pay check from his new job is going over there with me. I don’t think it’ll be making it back.

I need to hop on there. I’ve been so crazed since hubs started working out of town. Maybe I’ll pop on there this weekend. I have some sites you guys should be watching out for.

    • Kim Bee says

Lol, not good for a diet these things. But so good. I’ll cut you a tiny piece. Muah. Hope you had a great Mother’s Day my dear. xx

    • Kim Bee says

My hubs and your hubs should team up. Mine loves cereal beyond all reasoning. And darling come back tomorrow. I have something you’re gonna love. Kismet?!

  4. says

Kim, your photos are gorgeous, no wonder they are being copied! Although it is really annoying when it is done without permission – I’ve spotted one of mine recently on someone else’s site too. Grrrrr. I can understand how you feel. Anyway, gorgeous recipe and I’m going to make this with my Nutella-addicted niece.

    • Kim Bee says

Aw, thanks my dear. Let me know if she likes it. So sorry about your photo. It’s such a nightmare. Let me know if you need any backup having it removed. xx

  5. Debra Kapellakis says

I made these krispies without the frosting years ago. I thought I was so clever but my kids didn’t like them. (I ate them all by myself.) I wonder if they will like them served with the nutella/chocolate frosting and fun sprinkles?

  6. says

I’m so far behind with this latest trend…I’m sure it will sweep the continent soon :) I love Rice Krispie Treats…and these may just surpass them in yumminess! Happy Mother’s Day again, Mama Kim 😉

    • Kim Bee says

Lol, It’s funny cuz I was just thinking I should make more bars like you do. I don’t think I’ve done any. I was spying on your recipes the other day looking for inspiration. Happy Mama’s Day. Much love lady. xx

  7. says

Whoa, these are cool and that top photo is fantastic. How did you get the big name going on in there, way to go. I want to know how to do that. So where’ve you been? Everybody here in HOT Florida is heading to Wet N Wild in Orlando. Not me, I prefer the more sedate Sea World or when I like to get wild, the wildest roller coaster is at Bush Gardens, Tampa, LOL. Stop by, girl. Happy Mother’s Day!

    • Kim Bee says

Hey my dear. Thanks so much. Shoot me an email and we’ll talk about photo play. It’s super easy to do. I have been crazed. Hubs is working out of town so I spend my days driving the kids around cuz we only have the one car here now. It’s so not fun. Lol. Happy Mother’s Day to you too. Will stop by I promise. Barely holding it together these days. Muah! xx

  8. says

OMG.. this brings back memories. I made these back in Uni, whenever I needed a quick fix for my sweet tooth and kill off my stress. I cannot believe I have not made these in a while. Definitely will find an excuse to make them again. hugggss

  9. Fatima Sounder says

Lovely! I say, who wouldn’t want to have some of this! I am not just a sweet tooth but I’m also a bread lover! Can I share this on my Facebook page, my friends will surely love this recipe! Thanks.

    • Kim Bee says

I’m always happy to have people to share the link to the blog and recipes on facebook. It’s really good. I do recommend eating it the first day or so. That way it stays crunchy.

  10. says

I always use up extra cereal by doing something like this! I think my favorite so far has been fruity pebbles, but cocoa might rank up there too =)

  11. says

Cocoa pebbles AND Nutella?? This recipe is AMAZING Kim. Cocoa pebbles were one of my favorites as a kid….but my mom would never buy them! For some reason lucky charms were ok but cocoa pebbles were wayyy too unhealthy? No chocolate in the morning but sugary marshmallows were totally ok haha? General mills knows whats up, these bars look awesome!

  12. Darlene says

Cocoa Pebbles and Fruity Pebbles are gluten free, so this would make a great treat for kids that have to follow a gluten-free lifestyle. Nice for us adults, too!

    • Kim Bee says

So true Darlene. When I saw the GF on the box I was thrilled. So many kids have to be careful these days. And you are right, adults too. Hope you get to try them.
