Over 25 recipes that are perfect for the new year. Healthy choices made easy, from all your favourite food bloggers.
Are you ready for 2016? I know I’m not. Not even close. I’m still in “holiday” mode. My son is still visiting, and his girlfriend arrived for a few days as well. We’re having a blast cooking up all our favourite meals. Things like lasagna, roast, and smashed potatoes. So many smashed potatoes.
We’ve been eating tons of desserts too. We’ve demolished tons of cheesecakes, brownies, and lots of popcorn. I mean it is the holidays so we’re suppose to be whooping it up. That’s what life is all about. Having a blast with your family while demolishing tons of amazing food.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward o 2016. Mostly because we’re going on some family trips. We’re heading to Disney in the Spring, and then to Universal in the Fall. We figured splitting the trips up like that would make it easier for the kids to get away. That way we stand a better shot at getting away.
We sprung for a trip to Disney last year for a family Christmas gift, but it was just too hard to get away. My daughter is in the military and went away for training for about 4 months. Between that and school we just couldn’t work out a good time to head to Florida this year. So we postponed.
This year we sprung for a trip to Universal Studios for 2016. We’ve been wanting to go for their Halloween Horror Nights for eons, so we decided 2016 was the year to do it. We’ll visit Orlando in the Fall and whoop it up horror style. We’re all big scary movie fans so this is going to be a riot.
So what does all this have to do with healthy recipes for the new year? Well, I need to get my butt into shape to keep up with the kids when we visit the parks. Since getting IBS I’ve gotten so out of shape. Once upon a time I was a runner who worked out every single day. I know right. Hard to believe.
I still ate like an 8 year old kid back then. I always have. I used to run for longer periods of time just so I could eat more. It’s sort of how I roll. The extra running time made sense to me. I could eat that extra brownies or New York Fries if I ran a few more miles. So I did. Totally worth it.
Now that I’m older I may need to rethink that tactic. So it makes sense to try to eat a little healthier. It certainly can’t hurt, right. So if you’re in healthier eating mode too, check out this round up of amazing healthy recipes for the new year. A bunch of us bloggers got together to share healthy recipes for 2016. Enjoy!
Hope 2016 kicks butt for all of us. May your new year start off with a bang!
