Weekly Meal Plan Week 25 – 10 great bloggers bringing you a full week of recipes including dinner, sides dishes, and desserts!
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had an amazing New Year’s Eve. One filled with family, friends, and lots of great food. I’m sure there were beverages involved, hopefully everyone had a designated driver. SO important if you’re out painting the town red on special days.
We stayed home on New Year’s Eve. In fact we stayed home on New Year’s Day too. I’ll be honest with you, I kicked off the new year by vegging in my jammies on the couch. I was pretty much horizontal for two full days. There’s been some movie watching, and some The Walking Dead watching too.
Before you think I’m a totally lazy slob, I do have a good reason for all that lazy behaviour. My son was here for 2 weeks for the holidays, and his girlfriend flew in for 4 days at the end. So we’ve been whooping it up and going full steam ahead for 2 solid weeks. It’s been go, go, go.
They flew back to Calgary on New Year’s Eve, around dinner time. Before they left I made prime rib with all the fixings so we could have one last great meal with them. There was so much food in my belly I pretty passed out when they left to head back to their part of Canada.
It was two solid weeks of staying up late to hang out then sneak in some work before bed each night. Two solid weeks of getting up early so I could hit the shower first, then make sure everyone was up and at ’em every day. Two solid weeks of cooking and baking up a storm.
I was bloody exhausted by the time they left. I was in dire need of some downtime. So I grabbed my favourite jammies, my favourite blankie, my favourite pillows, and hunkered down on the couch for two solid days. It was absolutely delightful. Sometimes you just need to chill.
2016 will be the year of productivity. But first I need some rest and relaxation because I did not get any of that during the holidays. There was absolutely no down time for us during the holidays. So I’m taking it now. I’ll be off work until Thursday, January 7. Yeah me!
I have a bunch of giveaway posts going up this week so keep your eyes peeled for them. In the meantime, Happy New Year! Make 2016 the year of meal planning. It helps you save money and time. That’s a wonderful thing if you ask me. We could all use more time and money!

In case you missed it I guest posted for my friend Lori of Recipe Girl recently. You can see both of the posts on her blog. One was a Prime Rib Roast with Red Wine Au Jus, and the other was Yorkshire Pudding. I had a blast doing both. A huge thank you to Lori for allowing me the pleasure of cooking for her. One day I hope to cook together for real. xx
You can click over from the photos below. Once you see these two recipes you will want to run right over to her blog!! Be sure to visit all her other amazing recipes while you’re there. The lady is beyond talented. Did you know she has a cookbook? I own it. It’s wonderful. You can buy it on Amazon, it’s called The Recipe Girl Cookbook: Dishing Out the Best Recipes for Entertaining and Every Day. <- that’s an affiliate link so if you purchase the book I make a small commission. Thanks to those support the blog! xx

You can also follow me on Instagram. I’m just getting the hang of things over there. Are you Instagram? What kinds of posts do you like best? I never know if I should be posting only food, or life stuff as well. I rarely take life stuff photos. Sad but true. I need to work on taking more life stuff photos in 2016.
Be on the lookout for lots of giveaways coming up soon on the blog. I have everything from Anolon bakeware, to Wusthof knives, to some really cool Mad About Plaid Gift Boxes that will be up for grabs soon.
