Super easy to make and absolutely delicious. Perfect for strawberry season, or use frozen berries all year round. Enjoy!
Hello from Miami. I'm just getting ready to leave this hot inferno today. Been a blast. Nothing is more fun than hanging out with fellow foodies all weekend.
Speaking of fellow foodies, today you can find me guest posting over at my friend Kayle's. She is the genius behind The Cooking Actress. I adore this gal so very much. Kayle is just the sweetest lady in the world. She's so upbeat and hilarious. I love her outlook on life.
Kayle is moving so she asked some of her blogging peeps to help her out. I jumped at the chance to hang in her 'hood for the day. I always get supremely nervous when I guest post for people. Then I write these ultra conservative posts for them because I'm never quite sure if they really mean it when they say "just be yourself". Being myself means dropping f-bombs, raiding your fridge, drinking all your pepsi and talking non-stop when I know I should stop. So being myself never seems like a good option. Except here. Barring the f-bombs of course. On the blog, not so much in life.
So I was getting ready to attend blogher food last week. You know you have to do all the errands and appointments that lead up to the big day of travel. So I basically booked everything in one day. On Wednesday I took my daughter to the dentist, took myself to the dentist and then scooted over to my doctor. Only the day did not go that smoothly. I woke up sick, likely the stress of knowing I was going to be travelling. So I had to reschedule my daughter's appointment because all 5 attempts to leave the house failed. I came home and decided to make good use of my time. I popped something that was due soon for the blog on the grill. Then I popped something else in the oven, also due soon. A few minutes later we hear this crackling sound, then a large pop, then we look over and the oven is on fire. Literally. So we got everything under control, I'll have to get it fixed after the conference. So I took the chicken that was in the oven out to the grill. Well, the grill ran out of propane. So I started using my toaster oven. Nice right. Living the food blogger's dream.
The day gets better though *dripping with sarcasm*. Or more amusing might be the right word. When I was done cooking I ran to brush my teeth before going to the dentist. When I was done I whacked the toothbrush on the side of the sink to get the water off, something I do every day. Well this day the water shot up into my eye, and there must have been toothpaste still on it. You would think I poured acid in my eye, it was that painful. My eye swelled up, couldn't open it for a few minutes, then lots of watering and pain. Who gets toothpaste in their eye? I mean seriously? My life is beyond weird.
We ran off to the dentist, everything went great and no cavities for me. Mini-me is being referred to have her wisdom teeth removed. Productive appointment. Everything was going great. Until I left. Hubs had met us so he could take mini-me home and I could go to my doctor's appointment, then go pick up a new shirt or dress for the trip. They drive off, I waved goodbye, life is good. Until I pulled away, pulled up to an intersection and I had no brakes. I'm not even kidding. None. No brakes at all. I looked over and there's a semi truck coming down the road. Luckily I was going slow and managed to put in park without ruining our transmission. The driver checked on me, I think he thought we were both goners. Scary stuff.
So the SUV had to be towed home, the oven is broken, the grill has no fuel and I'm leaving for a trip. Seems like a good time to go home. Only to have the cat and the dog go running out the door to play in the yard. Um, indoor cat. Not sure what he was thinking. Puppy and kitty are now safe and sound. Their mom is super annoyed with them both though. No dessert for the pets tonight on account of their bad behaviour.
So needless to say life is never boring at the Beaulieu compound. Getting away is just what the doctor ordered. Well, not literally. She actually ordered Ativan so I could remain calm for my trip. Yah for calming drugs.
Okay, so enough rambling endlessly. Make sure you swing on by Kayle's blog, The Cooking Actress to get the recipe for this Strawberry Cobbler. While you're there poke about and check out all her amazing recipes. You will love Kayle as much as I do. Make sure you follow her Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram.
Toodles and smoochies! xx

Good grief - What a horrible day! I think following the grill running out of propane I would have said - That's it, I'm going back to bed. You're so brave. Sorry you had such a horrible day. Your cobbler looks amazing though, and I'm sure you had a great time in Miami.
