If you follow my blog you know I'm completely obsessed with The Walking Dead. Like COMPLETELY OBSESSED! I've watched the series 20 times now. I know, it's not something I should be proud of. Yet somehow I am.
I didn't start watching when it first came out. You could say I'm late bloomer when it comes to my Walking Dead obsession. I think it was about 2 years ago when my daughter convinced me to try watching it.
I'm going to be honest here. It's sort of what I do, quite frankly. Honesty is my jam. Anyhow, I'm going to admit here that I didn't dig it initially. Are you curious why I didn't like it at first glimpse?
Okay, okay, don't beg. I'll tell you. I'm also known to over-share so spilling my secrets is par for the course on the blog. Okay, so the reason I didn't dig it was the horse scene. You know the one.
I was watching it with my daughter and I was thinking to myself "okay, this is interesting". I got through the little girl scene, you know the one. The little girl in bunny slippers and bathrobe who picks up the stuffed animal.
That scene threw me, it was brutal and in your face. Somehow I powered through and kept watching. I watched Rick go through all the emotions upon discovering the fate of the world. I'm not going to lie, I loved it, it drew me in and hooked me.
Then, Ricks meets a horse. I have horses so I was thinking to myself "oh, cool, horses will be useful if there was ever a zombie apocalypse". Then the scene that blew my mind happened. I was horrified.
Seriously, I refused to watch it any more. This went on for a short time. My daughter kept telling me to give it another chance. I asked if any more horses showed up in the apocalypse. She said not yet, but there's a pig scene.
Against my better judgement I dove back into the show. Then bam, enter Daryl Dixon. Life over. I am now obsessed with The Walking Dead. It's always on the TV. I work from home so it's on a loop at our house while I work.
I'd love to say I watch it for all these deep reasons, but that would be a lie. Sure I love the "what if" aspect of the show. I'm always questioning whether I could do the things they have do. But I'm a wimp. So, probably not.
If it's not the deep stuff that brings me back again and again, then what does? Again, Daryl Dixon! Plain and simple. I adore that dirty, bow shooting redneck. Not even kidding, I can't help myself. He's the biggest reason I watch.
Also, I watch for Carol. I adore her journey on the show. She's gone from being a mouse whose scared of everything to this super human badass. Honestly, she makes the tough choices no one else can make.
For me, I identify with Carol the most of all the characters. While I'm not as much of a badass as Carol, I'd like to think I could survive tough situations. I've certainly survived worse things than walkers.
My favourite episode of all time is The Grove. It ripped me apart. That episode is gut wrenching and horrifying to watch. You go through the full spectrum of emotions while you watch. It pulls at your heart strings.
During the episode I was on pins and needles, squirming in my seat. I could not believe my eyes. If I recall, I think I even cried. That's saying something because I'm not the crying type. This episode would make a rock cry.
Now I can see the humour in all the memes that episode has inspired. Hell, I'll even partake in it now. However, at the time I watched it I could never have imagined any humour coming from it. It was just too gut wrenching.
Little did I know, or did any of us know, that "look at the flowers" would become part of pop culture. It's inspired so many memes, so many jokes and any reason to utter those famous words. Just look at the flowers, it gives me shivers!
These cinnamon pecans are seriously addictive. Honestly, I barely had any left to take photos of. I kept grabbing a handful every time I walked through the kitchen. Then, I started inventing reasons to walk through the kitchen.
They are SO good, that perfect mix of sweet with salty. Even Daryl would approve of these. Mr. Reedus, if you're reading this, call me! I'll make you a batch. Or ten.
I can't even tell you how addicted to these cinnamon pecans I am. Seriously man, I need help! Send Daryl.
Too far? I'm not even sorry. Daryl shares all my Walking Dead recipes with me.
No one can resist these cinnamon pecans, or my walking dead inspired recipes.

Cinnamon Pecans
Ingredients
- ½ cup butter melted
- 2 large egg whites
- 1 cup sugar
- 1.5 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp salt
- 4 cups pecan halves
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
- Line a rimmed cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt butter and pour on pan. Spread out with a pastry brush or offset spatula.
- In a mixing bowl beat eggs (a mixer works beautifully) with a whisk until they become foamy. Add sugar, cinnamon, and salt, mix until well combined.
- Toss pecans in the mixture and mix until well coated. Pour onto cookie sheet and spread out evenly.
- Place in the preheated 300 degree F oven and bake for 25 minutes, making sure to mix them periodically. My recommendation for making sure they cook perfectly is to use this schedule:
- Place in oven and bake for 10 minutes!
- Remove briefly from the oven, stir them really well, place back in oven and bake for 8 minutes!
- Remove from the oven, stir them really well, place back in oven and bake for 7 minutes!
- Remove from oven, stir and allow to cool!
- I've made them several times at different temperatures and cooking times and the 300 degree F oven and baking for 10, then 8, then 7 minutes worked perfectly.
- Cool for 15 minutes.
- Serve with a big old cinnamon pecan loving smile and some yellow flowers!

Kayle (The Cooking Actress)
I totally understand being obsessed with a TV show! (although Walking Dead is one I haven't watched---Michael has a zombie phobia so we tend to avoid them around here lol)
These pecans look crunchy and sweet and delish!
Bobbi from Bobbi's Kozy Kitchen
Daryl....DUH!! I saw a meme on Pinterest that said "Daryl Dixon is so hot he makes my teeth sweat" ummm yup, pretty much!
Carrie @ poet in the pantry
Who's my favorite character? So many good ones have died off. 🙁 I did not see last night's episode yet, so hopefully, my choice is still alive. I have to go with Maggie. Because she has become so strong. Not that she wasn't when first encountered, but I didn't expect her to last. She's resilient. Determined.
The Food Hunter
I've never seen the Walking Dead but I love these pecans

You seriously crack me up! I hear that WD is really good this season. I might be the only person in my family that hasn't become addicted to the show and I'm thinking that I may need to give it a second chance.
Love the cinnamon pecans. I'm a nut for nuts, but not so much zombies.
Kelly @ Nosh and Nourish
Hahaha... I love the Daryl figurine posing with your pecans 🙂 The hubby and I love this show too!!! What better way to spend Valentines' than at home on the couch watching Walking Dead, LOL?!?!?!?! Wish we'd had some of these pecans to snack on 🙂
Kimberly @ The Daring Gourmet
"Even Daryl would approve of these," hahaha! That's perfect! 🙂 Yep, we watched it last night. Okay, so here's my beef with the Walking Dead. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but there's one thing that has frustrated the heck out of me since the beginning and every time the characters find themselves in a predicament with walkers I always throw my hands up and ask my husband the same rhetorical question: WHY don't they just slime themselves with the zombie guts?! It's the simplest solution yet they've only done it like on two occasions. I get it, I wouldn't like to slime myself down with zombie guts either, but come on - if it's between that or getting killed... Seriously frustrates me. The second thing that frustrates me - remember in the beginning how Michonne used to protect herself by walking with those two jawless walkers on a leash? Why the heck doesn't everyone have their own jawless pet zombie when they go out??!
The cinnamon pecans look fab by the way - can't wait to whip up a batch! 🙂
Lora @savoringitaly
Oh, my goodness! I can't laugh out loud b/c everyone is still sleeping...but I thought you photoshopped that photo with Daryl...but it's a little Daryl figurine?? You are just the funniest! I am always late for shows, but this is one I won't be getting into b/c it will give me nightmares. Just reading your post freaks me out a little, but I loved reading it anyway! Your photo with the flowers and pecans is very pretty!!
Colleen
Yaaassss! Daryl and Carol are my favorites too! I am obsessed and would gladly munch on these pecans while binging on the dead muwahaha!

These cinnamon pecans look fantastic, what a delicious treat!
kellie @ The Suburban Soapbox
I think it's so awesome that you all are creating recipes inspired by The Walking Dead! The last thing I think about when watching it is food...I'm too busy stressing out and yelling at the television. Your pecans look incredible, though they could be dangerous if you're a stress eater and watching an episode. (I think Daryl likes his nuts.) 🙂
Sarah Walker Caron (Sarah's Cucina Bella)
This is so fun! I love The Walking Dead, but am actually only about a third of the way through the fourth season. I got really held up on the third season -- wasn't a big fan of it -- but have fallen back in love with season 4. Of course, I haven't seen "The Grove" episode yet ...
And these pecans. I want them!
Angie
I have to see the walking dead! Of course I have to make these pecans first to eat while I"m watching it, they look so good!
Michelle @ The Complete Savorist
Your Walking Dead with the cinnamon pecans made me laugh. I love cinnamon pecans and I would sneak in the kitchen to keep snacking too.

Oh my god - you're hilarious!! My favorite image is you feeding this character (sorry I have no idea who these people are supposed to be) but I get a total kick out of it 😉 Cinnamon pecans - I have to try this recipe! I'm normally not huge into pecans but I bet these taste fantastic!
