Wonderful easy, and quick chocolate popcorn recipe. Great for snacking on for parties, movies or game day. You’re going to love this one.

Turtle Popcorn | Super easy to make and absolutely perfect for late night snacking.
Okay let’s all sing along now….

“MMM I Love Turtles!”

Okay for those of you living under a rock, or who don’t often read my blog (why the h…e …double hockey sticks have you not been reading??) Turtles are a very special treat here in Canada. They are little chocolate delights that will drive you to madness. Well, maybe not you. But me clearly!

So first I did this:

Turtle Bark | Cravings of a Lunatic | #turtles #candy #chocolate #bark #caramel #pecans #snacks

Turtle Bark: Click Photo for the Recipe!

Then I did this:

Turtle Ice Cream | Cravings of a Lunatic | #turtles #chocolate #icecream #dessert #frozendesserts

Turtle Ice Cream: Click Photo for the Recipe!

Then I took that and did this:

Turtle Banana Split | Cravings of a Lunatic | #turtles #icecream #bananasplit #chocolate

Turtle Banana Split: Click Photo for the Recipe!

That still was not enough so I did this:

Turtle Ice Cream Pie | Cravings of a Lunatic | #chocolate #turtles #icecream #caramel

Turtle Ice Cream Pie: Click Photo for the Recipe!

Then I clearly crossed over to the dark side and did this:

Turtle Popcorn | Cravings of a Lunatic | #chocolate #turtles #popcorn #candy #snacks #tailgate #footballfood #gameday

And sadly there is more to come. I have another one ready to shock you with already. Clearly….issues….I need a Turtle intervention. Just wait until I post the next one, then you all can commit me. But you’re gonna wanna see that one first. It will blow your socks right off! Not just rock ’em. Blow them clear off!

Okay so this one is Paula Deen’s recipe. I saw it eons ago in a magazine I bought called Paula Deen’s Chocolate Celebration. I’ve had this magazine since 2008 and have finally started to delve into it. This one obviously caught my eye. I mean my love of Turtles dates back to when I was a wee little Lunatic. I made this and I have to say it is really good. I mean REALLY good. Yet me being the Lunatic that I am had to revamp it. But you won’t see that until tomorrow. Sorry. For now let’s enjoy this one. Cuz it’s yummy. And naughty. And just a bit bad ass!

Turtle Popcorn
Servings: 24 cups
Ingredients
  • 6 quarts 24 cups of popped popcorn
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup corn syrup
  • 6 1 ounce squares of semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.
  2. Pop your popcorn. I did mine on the stove old school style!
  3. Place your popcorn in a large roasting pan.
  4. Now in a large saucepan combine your butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup.
  5. Over medium-high heat bring this mixture to a boil. Keep it at a boil for about 5 minutes.
  6. Now remove it from the heat and stir in the chocolate, vanilla salt and vanilla.
  7. Let it stand until the chocolate melts. Stir it occasionally.
  8. Once it is melted stir until smooth.
  9. Now pour this over your popcorn, toss it gently with a wooden spoon to coat it all evenly.
  10. Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes. Stir it occasionally.
  11. Remove from oven and transfer popcorn to parchment paper to let it cool down.
  12. Serve with a smile.

I sure hope it was worth the wait. I know I have been teasing you with this one for awhile. I shall go on teasing you another day cuz I made this even better. But you’re just going to have to wait another day to see how I did that. Watch out Paula, I’m after your job!!!

*giggles uncontrollably and grabs a bowl of Lunatic Turtle Popcorn*

Toodles and smoochies! xx

Just one suggestion. Turtle cheesecake. I'd be yours for life.

I am waiting with baited breath to see your next Turtle creation. If I know the way these addictions go, I know that you won't stop with one more….there will be one and then another…until you have enough to fill a book: Turtle Girl Gone Wild featuring turtle fruit salad, turtle cheesecake in a jar, turtle milkshakes, turtle covered pretzels…oh yeah, I know it's coming 😉
