This Cherry Almond Smoothie recipe is a delicious way to start your morning off right. Make this refreshing smoothie packed with cherries and almond milk for breakfast today!

Cherry Almond Smoothies served in mason jars with straws in them. Jars on a white cloth on a wooden board.

I am a serious cherry fanatic. Cherries are my favourite fruit and I love using them in recipes as often as possible. For me, there is nothing better than sipping on a smoothie that uses my favourite fruit.

One thing that pairs perfectly with cherries is almonds. It just enhances the cherry flavour so much.

In fact, I highly recommend any time you bake something with cherries you should forget the vanilla extract and use almond extract instead.

That knowledge is what lead to the creation of this smoothie. I wanted to make a cherry smoothie with some frozen cherries I picked up recently. So, I used almond milk to help make the taste pop!

I whipped up a huge batch of this cherry almond smoothie recipe. Why? Because I can make one giant batch at the beginning of the week then freeze whatever I don't drink for later in the week. So, essentially one whir of my blender for a week of smoothies.

I put my extra smoothies in small mason jars, then pop a lid on them and stick them in the freezer. I keep a few different varieties on hand at all times. That gives me lots of options.

I think that is one of the reasons I love mason jars so much. They are perfect for freezing, perfect for shaking up a drink, you can use them instead of glasses for drinking and you can pop them in the dishwasher.

The fact that you can bring them on the run is another perk. That lid makes them perfectly portable.

Tips for this Cherry Almond Smoothie Recipe:

    • You can adjust your ingredients depending on how thick or thin you like your smoothies.
    • If you like them on the thin side I recommend adding about ¼ cup of cherry juice to this. The added flavour is fabulous too!
    • If you prefer them thicker you can use more cherries and less liquid. Or add some greek yogurt to help thicken it up.
    • The cinnamon gives this a serious flavour boost. It's a little out of the normal but I love mine with cinnamon. Give it a try!
    • You can freeze extra portions in mason jars so you have smoothies available all week long. You are going to love being able to pull them out of the freezer on busy mornings.

I adore the cherry/almond combination too, and know that I'd love this smoothie. What a great idea to make it the night before, letting it slowly defrost in the morning.
