This Baked Fudge recipe is quick, easy and loaded with chocolatey goodness. Your family is going to love this easy dessert recipe.
Baked fudge is such a great recipe to make for family gatherings and potlucks. Bake them in tiny mason jars so everyone gets their own jar of happiness!
Some recipes need to be shared. They need to be savoured, and enjoyed by everyone.
Then there are recipes, like this baked fudge, where you hide in the closet with the entire batch so you don't have to share.
Not that anyone here did that.
I would never.
Okay, so I totally did it.
Honestly, I don't even care. It was totally worth it.
I cannot even begin to describe this one. It's so decadent and over the top good. You have to try it for yourself. Then hide in the closet so you don't have to share. No evidence...no guilt!
Ingredients
- Eggs - Use large eggs for this recipe.
- Sugar - For this baked fudge, use granulated sugar and brown sugar.
- Cocoa Powder - Use a good quality one for a richer, deeper flavour. I used heaping spoonfuls for this one.
- Flour - The best flour for this recipe is all purpose flour.
- Butter - You can use either salted or unsalted butter. For this particular recipe, it won't make much of a difference.
- Vanilla Extract - Use store bought or make your own homemade vanilla extract.
- Chocolate Extract - This is not a deal breaker if you don't have it. You can omit it or just add more vanilla extract.
Directions
- First, preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
- Then, beat the eggs until they are light in colour.
- Next, add both sugars and beat until combined.
- Add the cocoa powder, flour, butter and extracts. Mix those until combined.
- Then, pour batter into ramekins or small jars. Pop them into a rimmed pan then add some water inside the pan but NOT the ramekins. Read full recipe at the bottom of the post in the recipe card to make sure you fully understand the technique!
- Next, place the pan in the oven and bake for 40 to 50 minutes.
- Remove from the oven carefully.
- Lastly, serve warm or cooled.

Baked Fudge
Ingredients
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder heaping
- 2 tbsp flour
- ½ cup butter melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp chocolate extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
- Beat the eggs in a stand mixer, or use a hand mixer, until light in colour.
- Now add the white granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until combined.
- Add the cocoa, flour, butter and extracts. Mix until just combined. Do not over-mix.
- Pour the batter into ramekins or small mason jars (good quality so they don't break in the oven) and set those inside a rimmed baking dish. I used a cake pan. Then pour water inside the baking dish (but NOT in the ramekins or mason jars) until it comes up about halfway.
- Pop in the oven for about 40 to 50 minutes, they should be a crust on the top that is crisp but the inside should be firm but still just a tad gooey. It reminds me of a firm creme brulee on the inside.
- You can serve these hot, and they will taste almost like a gooey brownie. Or you can pop them in the fridge to make them firmer and set up. Then they become almost like a soft fudgy pudding.
- I like mine hot out of the oven. I just use a dish towel wrapped around the jar and have at it.
- Serve with a big old chocolatey smile!

Happy Bloggy Birthday! This recipe looks fantastic. I always crave chocolate, and I like that I can put my vanilla sugar to use with this.
By the way, I don't blsme you for getting caught up in the Walking Dead - I save it until it comes out on Netflix and then watch the whole season within 2 days!
Kim Beaulieu
Thanks Lana. Vanilla sugar rocks for baking. I like the vanilla gives such a rich flavour. I tend to use a lot of it.
We're almost done season 3 now, I think there's 3 more episodes to go. So excited for season 4.

Totally thought of you while watching the Chew today and the Walking Dead girl was on! Happy Blogiversary! Congrats on 3 great years! Favorite recipe to make - brownies maybe? They are at most family functions, so that counts right?
Kim Beaulieu
I just watched it. I had no idea she was British. She was super cute in person.
Thanks my friend. I still can't believe it's been 3 years.
Brownies ALWAYS count. My fave.

The only celebrations where I cook are either Thanksgiving or Christmas. So as long as everything is cooked correctly and on time and enjoyed by all (and I don't go insane) it's a great one! This past Christmas was easy and simply as I had my father with me. Chicken cooked in the dutch oven, roasted potatoes and green beans with goat cheese and dried cranberries. Simple, easy, and I didn't go insane from making sure everything was right!
Kim Beaulieu
I totally feel that way too. Some celebrations end up being too much work. When our kids were young we had to order food in one year due to someone having a health crisis. Then I realized I actually got to visit with people for once on a birthday. Needless to say we started doing it all the time. ha
Diana Cote
depends on the occasion but we usually do bbq and cupcakes or cookies... when we don't grill, i usually make fresh pizza. 🙂
Kim Beaulieu
I like the way you think, and cook Diana. xx

Kim Beaulieu
I love that we started around the same time. I wish the same for you my friend. I adore you, and your site. And thanks. I am addicted to cute spoons, and chocolate. xx
Christiane ~ Taking On Magazines
Wow, that's a tough question. I guess it depends on what the celebration is and for whom. I'd have to say that a good roast beef would top the list though.
Kim Beaulieu
I freaking love roast beef. Can't get enough of it. xx
Liz
Happy anniversary to your amazing blog! I remember how much I liked you from the first time you commented on my blog...and I'm so glad we've become the friends we are today!!!
PS...I'd make something chocolate, probably a flourless chocolate cake, but baked fudge might win out!
Kim Beaulieu
Thanks Liz. Awe, you're going to make me cry. I am so happy we've become such amazing friends. I adore you so very much. I can't wait to see you this spring.
I think anything chocolate is perfect.

YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! HAPPY BLOGAVERSARYYYY!!!!! You deserve every bit of success and happiness because YOU are amazing and you make crazy delicious food (aaaand yepp...I would totally horde this baked fudge because YUMMMEHHHH MINE!)
Fave recipe to make for people is....various varieties of cookies!!
Kim Beaulieu
Thanks so much Kayle. I love blogging, it's such a cool job. The perks are amazing. I'm so thrilled with how many amazing friends I've made doing this.
I love cookies. I don't make them too often. Which is sort of weird.
Isabelle @ Crumb
Ermahgerd. I think I just gained 20 lbs from reading this post... which is a problem, because I'll surely gain another 20 lbs when I get around to making these babies and then stuffing the whole batch in my face. Because I will totally do it. For serious.
I don't really have one special dish I make for celebrations, mostly because I get bored easily and constantly need to change things up. I guess roast turkey counts, mostly because there's only two of us, so I only make it when we've got company.
Kim Beaulieu
Ha, I need to get back on the treadmill, I've been slacking lately. Not going to be a pretty if I keep this up.
We rarely eat turkey so hubby goes wacky when I make it. I love making a massive one then freezing it. I tend to get asked to make lasagna when we have company. It's the most requested dish I make, stuffing is a close second.
