Can we all just take a minute to just thank the person who created the OREO Cookie. I mean we all LOVE OREO Cookies, am I right? Of course I’m right. There’s not a person on this planet who doesn’t love OREO Cookies. Or any other planet for that matter. They are the best cookie in the world.
Who remembers being a kid and having cookies and milk before bed? That cookie was always OREO Cookies. Always. It’s milk’s favourite cookie. It even says so on the bag. We all know it’s true. We’ve all dunked our OREO Cookies in milk, it’s part of growing up. I don’t know anyone who didn’t grow up dunking theirs in milk.
Well, except maybe me. Technically it was milk that I dunked in, but I loved mine dunked in Hot Chocolate. I’m a hot chocolate fanatic, and there’s nothing better than dunking yummy OREO Cookies in hot chocolate before heading to bed. I would sit at the table as a kid and dunk my share in a steaming cup of cocoa.
Nowadays I love making cookie balls with my OREO Cookies. You get to dunk but in chocolate instead. How cool is that. Whoever invented cookie balls should have a holiday named after them. Not even kidding. There should be a national holiday for OREO Cookies and another for cookie balls.
What’s really cool about making cookie balls is the possibilities are endless. You can customize them to your own taste. The variety of chocolates you can dunk in are seemingly endless. You can also dunk them in Candy Melts. I dunked the ones in that first photo in White Candy Melts. Turned out amazing.
The other cookie balls were dunked in white chocolate. You’ll notice they are a bit darker. White chocolate is not completely white. Which is totally okay. It tastes amazing and no one eating the cookie balls will care. They’ll be too busy munching on yummy OREO Cookie Balls.
I picked up all my supplies for making these cookie balls at Kroger. I’ve written of my love of their store before on my blog. I live in a small town and the selection at stores here can be dismal. So I LOVE going into Kroger where I can get all my shopping done in one trip. You can buy all your baking supplies there.
We bought enough OREO Cookies to make a few batches of these to give as gifts to some family members and friends. These cookie balls are fabulous for holiday parties and also for gift giving. They also rock the cookie platter you hand at the holidays to all your friends and neighbours.
I highly suggest swinging by Kroger to stock up on all your holiday baking needs. You can whip up OREO Cookie Balls in every colour out there. You can customize the top of them with crushed cookies, or edible glitter, or sprinkles, or even drizzle multiple kinds of chocolate over your cookie balls.
No matter how you make them you’ll find everything you need at your local Kroger store. Bring the kids along and let them pick out the topping. Use caution with peanuts because of peanut allergies. Anything else goes. Let the kids pick out different sprinkles and jimmies.
You can also shake confectioners’ sugar over top of them. They look absolutely amazing like that. Or buy multiple colours of frosting or piping gel. The variety of colours out there are fabulous. Let the kids get involved and make little designs on the top of the cookie balls.
Let your imagination run wild this holiday season. Have fun with these and enjoy the process. I know we’re all so busy with life, but holidays are meant to be enjoyed. So take a step back and slow down a bit this holiday season. Spend time with the ones you love and live in the moment.
I hope you whip up a batch this holiday season, or year round. These OREO Cookie Balls will impress all your friends and family. Not only are the gorgeous in appearance but they are absolutely scrumptious. Every bite will put a smile on your face, and remind you of your childhood. I promise.

I love these OREO Cookie Balls so very much! Wondering how I did it? I’ll show you. I don’t normally do step by step photos but I wanted to give you a glimpse into how these are made. My kitchen is dark so I took these in one of the bedrooms where there is a patio door. Hopefully you like them and they give you a good sense of how to make these cookie balls. Enjoy!
Grab 36 OREO Cookies and crush them.
You can use a food processor to crush them, or a ziploc bag and a rolling pin. You decide.
They will resemble fine crumbs. So pretty, right!
Then mix those fine OREO crumbs with cream cheese and it looks like the above photo once mixed.
Look at all that yummy OREO cookie ball filling. It’s so good!
Here is a close up of the OREO cookie ball filling. You are making a list for Kroger, aren’t you?
Now you take a tiny bit of the OREO cookie ball mixture and roll it to shape 1 inch balls.
It’s okay if they aren’t perfect. Life isn’t either. Roll with it. < see what I did there! Now freeze ’em!
