This Baked Fudge recipe is quick, easy and loaded with chocolatey goodness. Your family is going to love this easy dessert recipe.

Baked fudge is such a great recipe to make for family gatherings and potlucks. Bake them in tiny mason jars so everyone gets their own jar of happiness!

Baked Fudge served in tiny mason jars on a red and white napkin

Some recipes need to be shared. They need to be savoured, and enjoyed by everyone.

Then there are recipes, like this baked fudge, where you hide in the closet with the entire batch so you don't have to share.

Not that anyone here did that.

    I would never.

Okay, so I totally did it.

Honestly, I don't even care. It was totally worth it.

I cannot even begin to describe this one. It's so decadent and over the top good. You have to try it for yourself. Then hide in the closet so you don't have to share. No evidence...no guilt!

Baked Fudge served in tiny mason jars on a red and white napkin

    Ingredients

    • Eggs - Use large eggs for this recipe.
    • Sugar - For this baked fudge, use granulated sugar and brown sugar.
    • Cocoa Powder - Use a good quality one for a richer, deeper flavour. I used heaping spoonfuls for this one.
    • Flour - The best flour for this recipe is all purpose flour.
    • Butter - You can use either salted or unsalted butter. For this particular recipe, it won't make much of a difference.
    • Vanilla Extract - Use store bought or make your own homemade vanilla extract.
    • Chocolate Extract - This is not a deal breaker if you don't have it. You can omit it or just add more vanilla extract.

    Directions

    1. First, preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
    2. Then, beat the eggs until they are light in colour.
    3. Next, add both sugars and beat until combined.
    4. Add the cocoa powder, flour, butter and extracts. Mix those until combined.
    5. Then, pour batter into ramekins or small jars. Pop them into a rimmed pan then add some water inside the pan but NOT the ramekins. Read full recipe at the bottom of the post in the recipe card to make sure you fully understand the technique!
    6. Next, place the pan in the oven and bake for 40 to 50 minutes.
    7. Remove from the oven carefully.
    8. Lastly, serve warm or cooled.

    Equipment

    • Stand Mixer
    • Hand Mixer
    • Ramekins
    • 8 inch Square Baking Pan

    Ingredients

    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 tsp brown sugar
    • 2 tbsp cocoa powder heaping
    • 2 tbsp flour
    • ½ cup butter melted
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 tsp chocolate extract
    US Customary - Metric

    Instructions

    • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
    • Beat the eggs in a stand mixer, or use a hand mixer, until light in colour.
    • Now add the white granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until combined.
    • Add the cocoa, flour, butter and extracts. Mix until just combined. Do not over-mix.
    • Pour the batter into ramekins or small mason jars (good quality so they don't break in the oven) and set those inside a rimmed baking dish. I used a cake pan. Then pour water inside the baking dish (but NOT in the ramekins or mason jars) until it comes up about halfway.
    • Pop in the oven for about 40 to 50 minutes, they should be a crust on the top that is crisp but the inside should be firm but still just a tad gooey. It reminds me of a firm creme brulee on the inside.
    • You can serve these hot, and they will taste almost like a gooey brownie. Or you can pop them in the fridge to make them firmer and set up. Then they become almost like a soft fudgy pudding.
    • I like mine hot out of the oven. I just use a dish towel wrapped around the jar and have at it.
    • Serve with a big old chocolatey smile!

Baked fudge?! OMG I've never even herd of such a thing so I am definitely impressed! I'm trying this one. And you know that you are extremely important to me, right? I mean, if you needed me I would get on a plane and fly over to be by your side. For good times or bad. But I am sorry, I would not send Daryl that way. I mean c'mon...let's be real. 😉

Back to the fudge...I love the idea! And Happy Blogaversary!!! I always enjoy coming over here and seeing what the heck you are up to. I wish I could bake you a turtle cake for your big day!

Whoops - forgot to comment about my favorite recipe for friends and family... I love making big semi-fancy slow-cooker meals like coconut curry chicken or BBQ pulled pork for big groups because they basically make themselves after you do the prep work!

Often It's Italian. But many times it's simple like burgers on the grill. There's always dessert.
