Hi folks.
Hope everyone is enjoying their *cough* Saturday. I love *cough* Saturdays. I mean don’t you just love *cough* weekends.
I find them so relaxing. Luckily I was all prepared and had this post ready for *cough* Saturday. I mean I am nothing if not *cough* organized.
Okay, okay so it isn’t officially Saturday but I’ll make it up for it with this yummy sauce. I hope I’m forgiven.
Okay so confession time. I usually buy my pizza sauce. Not always but often. I suppose I just figure all the other work I put in making the dough, cutting up all the ingredients, shredding oodles of cheese should be enough.
Every now and then I cave and make it from scratch. I like mine super sweet though so feel free to adjust the sugar. I won’t be offended.
I mean after all it is *cough* Saturday so I’m all chill and stuff.
We’re calling this one “Sweetums Pizza Sauce” around our household!
My sister will be laughing now as that’s one of her nicknames for me! The sweetums part, not pizza sauce because that would be weird!
Tips for Making Homemade Pizza Sauce:
- Use good quality tomatoes!
- Don't skimp on tomato paste. Buy the good stuff!
- Use fresh herbs if possible. It's not where I live during winter months!
- If using dried herbs be sure to rub them between your fingers before adding them to the sauce. It releases oils and makes them more fragrant.
- Start with smaller amounts of herbs and spices. Taste as you go so you can adjust the spice to your own liking!
- Freeze what you don't use immediately. This sauce freezes beautifully!

I am going to have to do this. Making pizza sauce is my least favorite part of making pizza...weird, I know, because it only takes a minute the way I do it, but still, the idea of putting it all in a crock pot and letting it make itself sounds better. (wow that was a long, run-on sentence!)

What a super *cough* weekend post! And what's wrong to being called Pizza Sauce? I've been called Pizza face before ... I wonder why? Keeper!

LOL, it just wouldn't be the same if you posted a slow cooker Saturday recipe on a Saturday. We'd all be checking our calendars, watches, temperatures... You do keep us on our toes, my friend...and it's worth the wait for your yummy recipes. xoxo

If your posting on the wrong day and calling it the wrong day in any way changes the karma and my child is called home from school, you're in big trouble. I just want you to know that.
This has been pinned, stumbled and everything else I can think of. It looks FANTASTIC. I will be pulling my slow cooker out today and getting this going. Promise.

I tried making my own sauce similar to yours, but you know what shortcuts are welcome in my house too:))I never added Oregano..I thought that the flavor would be too strong for me..Will have just try your version:)) Have a Great Tuesday!!!!

Nothing beats homemade sauce! I love to make my own and freeze it in small containers that are just the right amount for pizzas! I bet this would be so good with your awesome dough!
